Faculty Member (Design and Artificial Intelligence)

The Role

The Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) is seeking applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in the interdisciplinary field of Human-Centred Design and Artificial Intelligence (AI). We are looking for candidates with a robust research background and teaching experience in areas that intersect design, AI, and technology. This position offers a unique and exciting opportunity to shape and advance the field of human-centred design and AI at SUTD

The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting cutting-edge research in human-centred design and AI, with a focus on how AI technologies—such as natural language processing, computer vision and sensors—can be leveraged to enhance the human condition. The candidate will contribute to advancing the Design and Artificial Intelligence Programme’s mission by integrating human-centred design, AI, and emerging technologies to tackle complex, real-world challenges. The role encompasses all areas of academic activity, including education, research, service to the university, and outreach. The candidate will join a dynamic and innovative team, utilising their expertise in blended learning to develop and deliver high-quality, student-centred undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Additionally, the candidate will contribute to fostering an innovative culture and mindset among students and engage with industry partners on challenging research problems

Becoming part of SUTD

With a passion for teaching and a strong research focus in human-centred design and AI, you will collaborate with colleagues from diverse backgrounds to develop your niche in this interdisciplinary field. You will have the opportunity to build upon existing research while contributing your own vision to the evolving landscape of human-centred design and AI. Design is taught across all levels of higher education at SUTD, including adult and executive learning. By building or enhancing a research interest around the teaching of technically grounded design or the application of design in engineering to SUTD’s growth areas—Sustainability, Cities, Aviation, Healthcare, and AI—you will have the opportunity to connect with a wide range of stakeholders within and beyond the university.
