The Experienced Mechanical Field Engineer will oversee critical field service activities involving gas and steam turbine equipment at power generation facilities. This role combines advanced mechanical expertise, on-site technical leadership, troubleshooting, and maintenance coordination to ensure reliable equipment performance. You will manage installation activities, preventive maintenance, repairs, upgrades, and technical inspections while ensuring compliance with contractual requirements and safety standards. Working directly with customers and multidisciplinary teams, you will help resolve complex technical challenges and minimize equipment downtime. The position also involves mentoring field service professionals, coordinating resources, and maintaining accurate technical documentation. Accountabilities

Manage, coordinate, and oversee on-site field service activities, including planning, organizing, and monitoring labor, tools, technical support, and other resources to meet project schedules and contractual requirements.

Perform installation, commissioning-related activities where required, preventive maintenance, repair, calibration, and servicing of gas and steam turbine systems and associated equipment.

Troubleshoot complex equipment issues, respond to emergency repair requests, and implement effective solutions to restore reliable operations.

Provide technical guidance and instruction to customer representatives on equipment installation, operation, calibration, maintenance, and repair procedures.

Conduct equipment inspections and installation walk-downs to verify that work performed by customer contractors meets technical specifications and quality expectations.

Execute aftermarket upgrades and equipment modifications at customer sites, ensuring that all changes are properly reviewed, documented, and approved.

Maintain a strong safety culture by ensuring that all field activities comply with established safety procedures, technical standards, and site requirements.

Verify that the required parts, tools, and materials are available and delivered to the worksite in time to support planned activities.

Prepare accurate and timely technical reports, job status updates, customer documentation, material requests, quotations, timesheets, and expense reports.

Coordinate with customers and internal stakeholders to communicate progress, address technical concerns, and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.

Apply knowledge of equipment from different generations to diagnose faults and perform routine maintenance checks across a broad range of turbine systems.

Coach, mentor, and train other field service team members, sharing technical knowledge and supporting the development of field engineering capabilities.

Support project execution through effective resource management, short-term planning, problem-solving, and timely decision-making at customer facilities.

Demonstrate flexibility to work weekends, holidays, overtime, and extended assignments as required by operational needs.

Travel extensively to customer facilities and project locations to support field assignments across the designated service territory.

A technical or university degree, or equivalent qualifying experience. Alternatively, a high school diploma or GED combined with at least four years of experience in a field services role.

At least seven years of experience in field services, power generation equipment maintenance, or a closely related technical position.

Successful completion of the required Level III training programs, which is a minimum qualification for the role.

Strong mechanical and technical expertise in gas and steam turbine systems, power generation equipment, and field maintenance operations.

Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical diagrams, flow diagrams, and instrumentation documentation.

Practical knowledge of dial and laser alignment techniques and thermal growth considerations when working with rotating equipment.

Proven troubleshooting skills and the ability to resolve complex equipment issues independently within established technical and safety parameters.

Experience coordinating field activities, overseeing work execution, and guiding technical teams at customer sites.

Strong understanding of industrial safety requirements, quality standards, maintenance procedures, and contractual service obligations.

Excellent organizational and project coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver accurate documentation on time.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical information clearly to customers and colleagues.

Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, and team development capabilities.

Professional proficiency in English.

Willingness and ability to travel extensively, including travel to and from project sites, and to work weekends, holidays, or overtime when required.

Experience with Alstom, Siemens, or other original equipment manufacturer (OEM) turbine equipment is an asset.

Extensive field engineering services experience and familiarity with a broad range of equipment generations are strong advantages.

Commercial awareness and the ability to identify customer needs and communicate the value of relevant products and services are desirable.
