The Position

Engineer (Software/Data), AI-Native Data & Applications

Roche Digital Technology (RDT) is where innovation meets purpose. As a global team at the heart of Roche, we are a community of business-minded technologists committed to helping shape tomorrow’s digital future of healthcare. Our mission is to power Roche through cutting-edge digital technologies, harnessing the potential of artificial intelligence, data, and scalable tech innovations. Driven by purpose and passion, we’re building a future where digital is a core strength across all of Roche, enabling smarter ways of working, unlocking human potential, and driving breakthroughs that truly matter for millions of patients around the world.

At Roche, we offer a hybrid work model that combines flexibility with in-person collaboration. For now, we require our employees to be in our offices on average two days per week. The specific office days may vary depending on business needs, such as workshops, conferences, town halls, team meetings, and other collaborative events.

This role is based in the Dia R&D Portfolio & Project Management (PPM) division, which is dedicated to enabling data-driven decisions for life-saving diagnostic solutions. You will join us on the journey to transform enterprise IT in the era of AI, building AI-native solutions, from the digital data products that power PPM decision-making to the custom applications becoming a core part of our tech stack. Operating within a modern Data Mesh framework, you will act as a core data product expert, designing, building, and owning digital data products in Snowflake and AWS. Your engineering work will directly enable Roche to prioritize clinical innovations and bring them to market faster, transforming patient care.

The Opportunity:

• AI-Native Software Development: Use AI-assisted development as the default way you build, across data pipelines, transformations, and applications alike, helping define what modern, AI-native engineering looks like inside a large enterprise.

• Build & Architect Modern Data Products: Design, develop, and support scalable data products within Snowflake deployed on AWS, leveraging DBT for sophisticated transformation workflows and managing/deploying Data Vault architectures.

• Custom, AI-Native Applications: Build and grow a custom application platform that extends what's possible beyond our enterprise systems and is becoming a core part of our tech stack, directly shaping how PPM delivers new solutions to the business.

• Release Management & Automation: Design and monitor automated releases of new data product versions, including managing change request processes and maintaining comprehensive release documentation.

• Ensure Data Quality, Observability & Security: Guarantee data product health through Monte Carlo-based observability (SLOs, SLIs), automated QA testing, and implement strict data governance/access policies using Collibra and IMMUTA.

• Strategic Partnering & Business Integration: Collaborate closely with Product Owners, Data Architects, and Solution Architects to co-create tailored data solutions while acting as the domain expert in extracting and maintaining data from vital systems like Planisware (ORION), Risk Management (ROMA), and Portfolio Management (DP360).

• Community Leadership & Best Practices: Work actively within the Data Engineering community to establish engineering standards and share knowledge across data product, platform, and infrastructure teams.

Who You Are:

• Curiosity for AI-Assisted Development (Preferred/Fundamental): You treat AI coding assistants (like Copilot and Claude Code) as essential building blocks rather than novelties. You are excited to embed these tools deeply into your workflow and eager to expand your skillset into AI-native app development while delivering on our core data products.

• Modern Data Stack & Architecture Experience (Required): Deep hands-on experience in building data products using Snowflake (certification is a major plus), DBT, and SQL, along with proven expertise in Data Vault methodology and Data Mesh / Data Product principles (experience with Kimball/Data Warehousing is also valued).

• Pipelines, Orchestration & CI/CD (Required): Strong background in ETL/ELT pipeline development, data quality assurance, and proficiency with orchestration/version control tools (e.g., DBT, Airflow) using Git-based CI/CD workflows.

• Advanced Engineering Stack (Preferred): Hands-on experience with Python, Collibra (data cataloging), Monte Carlo (data observability), and IMMUTA (data security/governance).

• Analytical Mindset & Domain Drive (Required): Strong analytical thinker who thrives at the intersection of data engineering and business strategy, understanding that speed to market in Diagnostics directly impacts patient lives.

• Communication & Collaboration (Required): Exceptional team player with a passion for knowledge-sharing, continuous learning, and cross-functional collaboration with product and architecture teams.

What you get:

• Salary range: 10,150 – 18,850 PLN gross/month (121,800.00 – 226,200.00 PLN gross/year, based on employment contract and experience).

• Annual bonus: 12% target bonus payment based on performance.

• Dedicated training budget: Training, certifications, conferences, and diversified career paths.

• Recharge Fridays: 2 Fridays off per quarter available.

• Take Time Program: Up to 3 months of leave to use for any purpose.

• Vacation subsidy: Available.

• Flex Location: Possibility to perform our work from different places in the world for a certain period of time.

• Take Time for Charity: Additional paid leave of maximum 2 weeks to engage in the charity action of your choice.

• Private healthcare: LuxMed packages, group life insurance (UNUM), and MultiSport.

• Stock share purchase additions.

• Yearly sales of company laptops and cars and many more!
