THE OPPORTUNITY

JLR Energy Platform is a place to grow your experience, knowledge and capability. We are on an exciting transformation journey to continuously improve and deliver engineering integrity, quality, collaboration, diversity and inclusion.

This is an exciting time to become part of JLR history as we shape our future electrified portfolio and deliver the Energy Platform Core through modular, scalable and reusable system architectures that can be deployed across multiple vehicle programmes.

This role is responsible for the development of HV Battery System architectures, requirements, models and validation artefacts using modern Systems Engineering and MBSE methodologies. Working within the Energy Platform organisation, the role supports the definition and deployment of battery technologies, system strategies, compliance requirements and future energy storage solutions across JLR's Electrified Propulsion portfolio.

The position operates across Energy Storage, Charging, ESMS, HV Distribution, Thermal Systems and Vehicle Architecture teams to ensure HV Battery systems are performant, safe, compliant, reusable and fully integrated within the wider vehicle platform.

As a key member of the Energy Storage Core team, this role contributes to the development of future battery technologies, battery architectures, compliance strategies and performance targets that deliver outstanding customer attributes whilst meeting the evolving technical, commercial and regulatory needs of global markets

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Develop HV Battery System architectures, requirements and behavioural models using Systems Engineering and MBSE methodologies.
• Translate vehicle and feature requirements into Battery System requirements, logical architectures, physical architectures and validation artefacts.
• Assess technical constraints, dependencies and opportunities to optimise battery system performance, safety, durability, usable battery energy (UBE) and vehicle integration.
• Develop and maintain battery system requirements, test methods and validation strategies, ensuring complete traceability from requirement to verification.
• Support the development of battery concepts and strategies covering energy storage, battery management, thermal management, electrical protection, charging integration and functional safety.
• Generate and maintain Core System artefacts including SRDs, SAADs, interface definitions, functional architectures and system documentation.
• Develop battery architectures compatible with BEV and PHEV platforms, ensuring alignment between cell technology, battery management systems, cooling systems, enclosures, charging systems and HV electrical architectures.
• Develop validation methods and test cases covering performance, durability, ageing, degradation, thermal behaviour, fault handling and customer usage conditions across all battery functions.
• Analyse, interpret and deploy global battery standards, REESS legislation, market requirements, battery regulations and emerging regulatory changes into Energy Storage Core requirements and architectures.
• Support compliance activities relating to battery legislation, homologation, battery passport requirements, sustainability regulations, EMC legislation, electrical safety and Functional Safety objectives.
• Contribute to battery technology roadmaps by evaluating emerging cell technologies, battery architectures, safety concepts, thermal management approaches and future market trends.
• Support Design Authority activities by preparing technical evidence, architecture proposals and system recommendations.
• Work closely with Charging, ESMS, HV Distribution, Thermal Systems and Vehicle Architecture teams to resolve technical issues and architectural dependencies.
• Support issue resolution and change management activities using structured engineering approaches including AIMS, 8D and FMEA methodologies.
• Maintain Systems Engineering documentation and configuration management records to support traceability, compliance and engineering quality objectives.
• Support supplier engagement, technical reviews and requirement clarification across battery cells, BMS, cooling systems, electrical hardware and enclosure technologies.
• Capture lessons learnt and continuously improve battery architectures, engineering processes and validation methodologies across future programmes.
