Designs, installs, tests and commissions railway power supply (HV/MV/LV) and train control/signalling systems on international projects, while also developing electronic test hardware and software. It is a site-heavy role: about 80% of the time is spent abroad on 2–3 month commissioning rotations, based in Chorzów, Poland.
We are looking for Electrical & Test Engineers to support the design, installation, testing, and commissioning of complex railway power supply and signalling systems on international projects. The role combines electrical engineering across HV/MV/LV installations with hands-on development of electronic test hardware and software, train control and signalling equipment, troubleshooting, and field commissioning. The engineers will work in a highly site-oriented environment, spending approximately 80% of their time on international assignments, including extended 2–3 month rotations abroad.
Responsibilities
- Deliver electrical design and engineering activities for high-, medium- and low-voltage railway power supply installations.
- Prepare and update calculation notes covering cable sizing, protection coordination, short-circuit calculations, current and voltage transformer sizing, earthing, lightning protection, UPS systems, battery chargers and traction substation equipment.
- Develop electrical architectures, technical and functional specifications, bills of quantities and interface documentation.
- Coordinate interfaces between power supply and other disciplines, including signalling, Earthing & Bonding, EMC, electrical simulations, civil works and topographical reference systems.
- Design and develop electronic test equipment, including both test hardware and software.
- Install, configure and test software on new and existing equipment.
- Support installation and adjustment of signalling and train control equipment.
- Perform factory and field testing and support on-site commissioning.
- Diagnose electrical, electronic and software-related faults.
- Cooperate with engineering teams, customers and suppliers to implement effective solutions.
- Prepare test procedures, reports and technical documentation.
Requirements
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in test equipment design, including development of both test software and hardware for electronic systems.
- Minimum 2 years of electrical engineering experience in metro or tram systems.
- Knowledge of HV / MV / LV electrical installations.
- Knowledge of railway power supply systems.
- Experience with train control and signalling equipment.
- Practical understanding of electronics and electrical test equipment.
- Knowledge of safety standards and testing procedures.
- Familiarity with BIM methodologies.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical and organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Good written and spoken English.
- Valid driving licence.
- Eligibility to work within the European Union.
- Full willingness to spend approximately 80% of working time abroad, including continuous assignments of 2–3 months.
- Flexibility regarding extended working hours, weekends and public holidays.
