What to Expect
Many people go to work every day wondering if they are making a difference. Our Direct Support Professionals do not wonder. They know they are.
What a DSP does day to day
DSPs support individuals with a wide range of daily living needs, which may include:
• Personal care such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and hygiene support
• Assistance with meals, mobility, and daily routines
• Community involvement including errands, appointments, and recreational activities
• Mobility support including wheelchair assistance, repositioning, and transfers
• Encouragement, companionship, and emotional support
• Following individualized care plans and safety procedures
This is a hands-on role. Some positions involve physical assistance throughout the day, including transfers, mobility support, and use of mechanical lifting equipment when needed.
Transportation may be part of the role, including the use of company vehicles to support individuals in the community.
Schedules and Work Environment
We hire both full-time and part-time DSP staff. This role is available in both residential settings and day/community programs, depending on location needs.
Schedule structure varies by program. First shift is daytime hours, second shift is afternoon and evening hours, and third shift is overnight hours. Some roles are weekday daytime focused, while others include multiple shifts and rotating weekends based on program needs. Depending on your availability, there may be a role that fits your preferences.
Staff are typically assigned to one primary location. Additional training at other sites may be available over time based on staffing needs or employee interest.
