The Opportunity

Our People team is looking for a Digital Learning & Capability Designer in our Organisational Development team based in Melbourne CBD. This is a full-time, 18-month contract opportunity, with the potential to extend.

We're looking for someone who combines contemporary learning design, creativity and technology to create digital experiences that help people learn, understand and perform at their best. You'll work across digital learning, AI, visual design, content creation and automation, experimenting with new tools and transforming complex ideas into experiences people actually want to engage with. Think Articulate 360, Canva, Microsoft Copilot, Copilot Studio, Leonardo AI, digital content creation, learning design and finding smarter ways to bring learning to life.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys creating and building. You'll be most successful if you enjoy working across multiple priorities, maintain momentum and can balance creativity, quality and pragmatism to deliver outcomes. You'll develop digital learning, visual content and performance support resources across a diverse range of topics, audiences and business functions, often working across multiple projects simultaneously.

You'll spend your time creating high-quality digital learning experiences, experimenting with new technology and finding better ways to bring learning to life. You'll be joining a team that's actively modernising its digital learning environment and preparing for the next generation of learning technology. It's an exciting time to join, with significant work underway to strengthen content governance, improve the digital learning experience and prepare for future technology changes. Some of your work will involve bringing structure and governance to learning content, helping prepare our learning environment for future technology, and ensuring technical, manufacturing, distribution and safety content remains accurate, consistent and fit for purpose at scale.

This isn't a role where you'll simply maintain learning content. You'll help shape the future of digital learning at BlueScope, exploring new technology, experimenting with AI and creating learning experiences that support our entire workforce. The balance between creativity, technology and practical business impact is what makes the role unique.

What Will You Do?

You'll play a key role in shaping the future of digital learning at BlueScope by:

• designing and building engaging digital learning experiences, performance support resources and digital content that simplify complex information and help people learn, retain and apply knowledge
• creating learning assets at scale, including eLearning, digital content, visual resources, job aids and interactive learning experiences using tools such as Articulate 360, Canva and AI-powered technologies
• partnering with subject matter experts and stakeholders to translate technical and operational knowledge into clear, effective and user-friendly learning solutions for a mixed collar environment
• using AI, automation and digital tools to analyse, organise and transform large volumes of content while supporting the evolution of our digital learning environment and preparing content and digital assets for future platform enhancements and emerging technologies
• applying governance, quality standards and continuous improvement principles while exploring new technologies and innovative approaches that enhance learning experiences and support future digital transformation initiatives

More About You

You're curious, creative and self-motivated. You enjoy solving problems, learning new things and turning ideas into practical outcomes. Whether you're designing learning, creating digital content, exploring AI tools and agents or simplifying complex information, you're energised by producing high-quality work that helps people perform at their best.

Part learning designer, part digital content creator, part visual storyteller and part technology enthusiast, you bring a blend of learning expertise, digital capability and strong professional judgement, along with:

• experience in learning design, instructional design, digital content creation, learning experience design or a similar field
• a strong understanding of adult learning principles and the ability to transform complex information into engaging, practical learning experiences
• experience using digital learning and design tools such as Articulate 360, Canva and AI technologies, together with confidence experimenting with new platforms and approaches
• strong visual design skills, critical thinking and the ability to create high-quality digital content across a broad range of topics while balancing creativity, brand integrity, usability, speed and business requirements
• the ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders, ask insightful questions and translate ideas into solutions that deliver value
• curiosity for emerging technology, a willingness to continuously learn and improve, and an appreciation for quality, governance and attention to detail
• experience creating visual, multimedia or digital content beyond traditional eLearning solutions will be highly regarded, along with a portfolio showcasing digital learning, content creation, visual design or related work
