A bit about us...

Please allow us to celebrate our own success for a moment… We’ve built a customer‑centric product that is market‑leading, and we are smashing it!

We’re a multi‑award‑winning digital payments and insights platform within the automotive industry. We support over 5,000 automotive retailers, helping drivers spread the cost of motoring bills, accessories and servicing through flexible payment options. Our purpose is simple: to give drivers peace of mind while improving the customer experience and supporting dealer profitability.

Following our successful Series B in 2024, Bumper continues to scale across the UK and Europe — and we’re excited to welcome a passionate and experienced DevOps / SRE Engineer, based in our London office, to help us take our platform reliability and engineering excellence to the next level.

Our Head Office is in Sheffield City Centre, with offices also based in London and Turkey. We've also expanded further, bringing retailers in Ireland, Germany and Spain on board, with the vision of being the leading automotive payment and insights platform!

A bit about the role...

We’re looking for a DevOps / SRE Engineer to join our growing Infrastructure team. In this role, you’ll help shape and strengthen the reliability, scalability and observability of our cloud‑native platform. You’ll work across the business to improve how we build, deploy and monitor our systems, while playing a key role in incident response and continuous improvement.

You’ll report directly to our Chief Technology Officer and will collaborate closely with engineers across Bumper to build a high‑performance, well‑monitored, developer‑friendly platform — and you’ll be a key voice in building a strong SRE and DevOps culture across the team.

This is a full‑time hybrid-role, based in our London Office, at least 3 days a week.

• Ability to diagnose and fix complex distributed systems issues

• Demonstrated use of GenAI tools (ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, Claude) in engineering workflows

• Excellent communication and calmness under pressure

• A passion for automation and reducing toil

Nice to haves...

• Experience with Grafana Cloud, IRM or other incident management tools

• Familiarity with Argo Workflows / ArgoCD

• Experience defining SLIs/SLOs at scale

• Drive high‑quality monitoring, alerting and observability across metrics, logs and traces

• Conduct and support blameless post‑incident reviews, ensuring follow‑up actions are delivered

• Define and implement SLIs/SLOs to improve service reliability and operational excellence

• Collaborate with engineering teams to embed best practices and improve developer experience

• Contribute to automation, tooling, and continuous improvements that reduce toil and increase platform resilience

What you'll get from us...

• Competitive Salary

• Company bonus scheme

• Private Healthcare and Medicash plan

• We give 26 days holiday + bank holidays, plus volunteer days throughout the year (pro-rated)

• Tax‑saving Salary Sacrifice Pension with Aviva

• Salary sacrifice Cycle to Work, Octopus Electric Vehicle, and Nursery fee schemes available!

• For all your well‑being and development needs, we give each colleague access to a benefits platform, with an allowance of £250 per year for wellbeing, and £150 per year for development

• If and when the time comes, we will give 4 months paid leave to primary carers, and 1 month of paid leave to secondary carers

Perks are nice, but we know perks don’t make up the whole package of a great job. By joining our Bumper team, you'll have the opportunity to be an ambassador for our product & brand, and help us to continue on our winning streak!
