DevOps Engineer

Envitia is a UK-based data and digital consultancy, delivering high-impact transformation services that help organisations unlock the full value of their data. With over 30 years of experience, we combine deep technical expertise with a strong consulting approach, working in close partnership with our clients to solve complex, mission-critical challenges and deliver measurable business outcomes.

Our consulting teams operate at the heart of some of the UK’s most critical programmes, partnering with Central Government, Defence, and National Security organisations. We act as trusted advisors, shaping strategy, defining architectures, and leading transformation initiatives that enable our clients to harness data, from geospatial intelligence through to advanced analytics and AI.

At Envitia, consulting is about more than delivery, it’s about influence, impact, and long-term partnership. You’ll be part of a growing, collaborative consulting practice that is focused on delivering real value, building enduring client relationships, and shaping the future of data-driven decision-making in complex environments.

We’re also proud to have been named one of The Sunday Times Top 100 Medium-Sized Companies, a reflection of our commitment to innovation, collaboration, and creating an environment where our people can thrive.

• Supporting and optimising AWS, Azure, Kubernetes, OpenShift, EKS and ECS environments.
• Implementing monitoring, logging, observability and alerting solutions for mission-critical services.
• Contributing to secure, scalable and resilient cloud architectures within regulated environments.

Due to the nature of our work, the successful candidate will be required to obtain a high level of security clearance. Once cleared, you will be expected to work on-site at client locations in either London, Cheltenham, or Manchester for approximately 3-4 days per week. Whilst you clearance is going through, you will work on programmes across our wider defence and central government portfolio.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain secure CI/CD pipelines to support efficient software delivery.
• Develop and manage cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code and automation tools.
• Support and optimise AWS, Azure, Kubernetes, OpenShift, EKS and ECS platforms.
• Implement monitoring, logging and observability solutions to improve platform performance and visibility.
• Work closely with software engineers, testers and architects to deliver secure, reliable and scalable solutions.
• Troubleshoot infrastructure, deployment and environment issues across development and production environments.
• Contribute to cloud migration initiatives, platform improvements and engineering best practices.
• Share knowledge, reusable tooling and automation patterns across teams.
• Adhere to security, governance and information-handling requirements within regulated and secure environments.

Experience Required

We're looking for a DevOps Engineer with experience designing, building and supporting secure cloud-based platforms and automated delivery pipelines.

You'll Bring

• Experience working in DevOps or Platform Engineering roles.
• Experience with Kubernetes, OpenShift, EKS, ECS or other container platforms.
• Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation or Ansible.
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitLab, Jenkins or equivalent.
• Experience implementing monitoring, logging and observability solutions for cloud environments.
• Knowledge of AWS and/or Azure cloud technologies.
• Knowledge of security, compliance and governance requirements within regulated environments.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively within Agile, cross-functional teams.

Desirable:

• Experience working within government, defence or national security environments.
• Exposure to cloud migration programmes and large-scale platform transformation initiatives.
• Understanding of DevSecOps principles, including security automation and secure software delivery practices.

Security Clearance Requirements

The successful candidate must be eligible to obtain a high level of security clearance. Due to the nature of the work, candidates must be a sole British National.
