Spring & Suspension Engineering:
- Strong understanding of spring fundamentals Rate, load vs. deflection
- Knowledge of ride, handling, and durability trade‑offs Spring Tables
- Materials & Manufacturing
- Knowledge of spring materials (e.g., SAE 9254, 5160, micro‑alloy steels)
Design & Analysis Tools:
- Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., CATIA, NX, Creo)
- (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus, internal OEM tools)
- Comfortable reviewing:
- Stress and fatigue analysis
- Buckling and clearance studies
- Familiarity with PLM systems (Teamcenter, ENOVIA, Windchill)
Design Release & Program Execution:
- Full ownership of spring components from:
- Concept → design → validation → production launch
- Experience with:
- Design release processes
- Engineering change management (ECR/ECO)
- Bill of Material (BOM) management
- Support vehicle programs through:
- Prototype builds
- DV/PV testing
- Launch and post‑launch issue resolution
Validation & Testing:
- Define and approve DV/PV test plans
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for:
- Spring failures
- Washout / load loss
- Noise or durability concerns
Standards, Regulations & Quality:
- Working knowledge of:
- OEM internal standards
- SAE / ISO standards relevant to springs and suspension
- Experience with:
- DFMEA / PFMEA
- DVP&R
- PPAP support
- Strong focus on design robustness and quality
