Design Engineer

Hi there,

I’m Jussi, a design engineer at Agileday. We’re looking for a product-oriented design engineer to join our team to help build and improve our product for professional services companies. Before diving into the business, let me describe the work I typically do to give you an idea of what you’ll be working on.

I work daily on the frontend, user experience, interactions, accessibility, implementation reviews, and our design direction. In addition, I occasionally work on our marketing materials and our new website, but that’s something we don’t expect you to do (unless your design skills extend beyond code and you want to, that is).

To complement our team and me, you’d ideally have a strong technical background paired with a sharp eye for design details and implementation. We’re a group of senior makers, most of whom have experience in building products and companies.

You’ll fit right in if you have good taste and can build. In the AI era, taste is increasingly important, as you need to rapidly distinguish between good and mediocre AI output.

Does that sound like you? Great, let’s jump right into the details.

In this role, you will…

• Build with taste. Work on existing and new features from planning and design to execution and maintenance.

• Spot areas in need of redesign. Autonomously improve details, refine UI and UX, and obsess over quality.

• Raise the bar. Educate your fellow designers and developers to elevate our standards.

• Improve our design system. Improve and build upon our existing design system and components.

You’ll feel right at home if you…

• Care for your craft. You value clean design, code, and documentation, and you also acknowledge that shipping value to customers is at the center of everything we do.

• Build with AI. You understand how to use and command AI. The majority of our code is written by AI, and we have extensive AI guidelines to ensure quality, but people still make the decisions.

• Communicate clearly. Good code is essential, and so are good pull requests, commits, Slack messages, and feedback sessions. You understand that while a well-written message might take a bit more time to compose, it will save time in the long run.

Our toolset

• React, TypeScript, and styled components on the frontend

• Figma for our designs

• Go on the backend

• Postgres for the database

• Cursor and Claude for AI-assisted work

• GitHub, Slack, and Jira for managing our code and work

• Google for cloud infrastructure

• Other modern software. Some of our team members use productivity-boosting tools such as Raycast, CleanShot, Grammarly, Gemini/ChatGPT, Loom, and Screen Studio.

About Agileday

We launched Agileday in 2023 to help professional services companies bring their people, sales, staffing, skills, projects, time, and financials into one connected operating platform.

If that sounds complicated, you should see the spreadsheets and disconnected systems many companies relied on before finding us. Proof of the value is our lifetime client NPS of 80 and ability to win against all major players in the marketplace.

Following our Series A funding round in January 2026, we’re scaling internationally with a growing focus on North America and other global markets serving almost 100 leading professional services companies in 11 different countries.

We value ambition, expertise, autonomy, direct communication, and treating people well while doing demanding work.

Compensation and location

Our compensation combines a competitive base salary with meaningful equity. The exact mix depends on your experience, preferences and the scope of the role.

We’ll discuss compensation openly during the process to ensure expectations are aligned on both sides.

This is a remote-friendly role, and we’re open to candidates based anywhere. What matters is that your working hours allow for regular collaboration with our core team in Finland.

We also enjoy spending time together in person occasionally, and you’re always welcome to work from our office in Espoo.

Interested?

We’d love to see how you think, design, and build. Skip the formal cover letter and tell us, in your own words, why this role caught your attention.

Start with “Hi Jussi!”
That’s all the formality we need.

Show us your work.
Share your portfolio, GitHub profile, or a few examples that demonstrate your eye for detail and your ability to turn design into a polished product.

Make it specific.
Tell us what resonated with you, where you think you could raise the bar, and what you’d like to learn more about.
