Expel is hiring a Data Scientist to build machine learning models, analytics, and Gen AI applications that improve cybersecurity alert quality, detection, and investigation workflows. Day to day you'll partner with SOC and Detection & Response engineering teams using Python (pandas, numpy, scikit-learn), SQL, and statistics, deploying models to the cloud.
You are passionate about transforming complex data into actionable insights and tools that make people more efficient. You thrive on the challenge of gathering, cleaning, and analyzing diverse data sources to find the "hidden truth" that drives real customer value. Your ideal role involves using a blend of computer science, statistics, and machine learning to translate information security data into organizational knowledge. While you enjoy research, you get the most energy from seeing your work—from predictive models to Gen AI applications—directly impact cybersecurity outcomes.
Does this sound like you? Great!
We’re looking for a Data Scientist who wants to automate routine decisions and empower our humans to be more efficient. You’ll work alongside our Detection and Response (D&R) Engineering and Security Operations Center (SOC) teams to deliver quick, iterative wins that improve how we detect and investigate cybersecurity incidents.
Our team values collaboration and a team-focused mindset. If you are an adaptable problem-solver who enjoys working with others to turn noisy data into clear capabilities, we should talk!
The base salary range for this role is between $118,400 USD and $171,700 USD + bonus eligibility and equity. While the full salary band reflects our long-term compensation framework, we're primarily targeting candidates between $135,000 and $160,000 based on experience, skills, and market data.
At Expel, our employee benefits reflect our commitment to our crew. Unlimited PTO, equity for everyone, work location flexibility, up to 24 weeks of parental leave, and excellent health benefits are some of the ways we care for our Expletives.
We’re only hiring those authorized to work in the United States. We do not currently sponsor immigration visas.
We're an Equal Opportunity Employer: You'll receive consideration for employment without regard to race, sex, age, color, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, protected veteran status, or on the basis of disability.
We’ll ensure that individuals with disabilities are provided reasonable accommodation to participate in the job application or interview process, to perform essential job functions, and to receive other benefits and privileges of employment. Please let us know if you need accommodation of any kind.
