Lendable, a UK fintech unicorn, is hiring a Data Platform Engineer in London to own areas of its central data platform, enabling fast, reliable analytics. The stack includes Python, SQL, Snowflake, dbt, and Fivetran on AWS, with Kubernetes, Kafka, and Terraform-based infrastructure.
Lendable is on a mission to build the world's best technology to help people get credit and save money. We're building one of the world’s leading fintech companies and are off to a strong start:
One of the UK’s most exciting unicorns with a team of over 800 people
Among the fastest-growing tech companies in the UK
Profitable since 2017
Backed by top investors including Balderton Capital and Goldman Sachs
Loved by customers with the best reviews in the market (4.9 across 10,000s of reviews on Trustpilot)
So far, we’ve rebuilt the Big Three consumer finance products from scratch: loans, credit cards and car finance. We get money into our customers’ hands in minutes instead of days.
We’re growing fast, and there’s a lot more to do: we’re going after the two biggest Western markets (UK and US) where trillions worth of financial products are held by big banks with dated systems and painful processes.
Take ownership: you are trusted to make decisions that drive a material impact on the direction and success of Lendable from day 1
Work in small teams of exceptional people: Lendies are relentlessly resourceful. We challenge the status quo to solve problems and find smarter solutions
Build the best technology in-house: we use new data sources, machine learning and AI to make machines do the heavy lifting
As a Data Platform Engineer, you'll work alongside senior team members to tackle complex challenges, while taking ownership of your own areas of the problem, in a fast-paced environment where no two days look the same. The role is fundamentally about problem solving: understanding business challenges, breaking them down, and delivering pragmatic, scalable solutions.
You’ll work closely with product, analytics, and engineering teams, operating with a high degree of autonomy. That means proactively gathering context, aligning stakeholders, and ensuring work lands effectively.
Data Platform sits at the centre of the business, with a real opportunity to shape how teams interact with data. The focus is on enabling fast, iterative analytics, moving from idea to insight quickly, while maintaining strong foundations around reliability, cost, and security.
You’ll work across a broad set of technologies as we evolve the platform. Experience is helpful, but not essential:
Languages: Python, SQL, Terragrunt, JavaScript
Cloud: AWS (primary), some GCP
Warehouse & Storage: Snowflake, S3/Parquet
Data & ETL: dbt, Fivetran
Platform & Infra: Kubernetes, Kafka, RabbitMQ, Argo, GitHub Actions, HashiCorp Vault
Observability: Datadog, Grafana
Dashboarding: Preset
Other: Claude
Strong fundamentals and the ability to apply them pragmatically:
Solid programming ability (Python or similar)
Strong experience with Snowflake (or similar warehouses)
Good understanding of software engineering patterns and architectures
Experience building data-intensive systems
Cloud experience (AWS preferred)
Infrastructure as code (Terraform ideally)
CI/CD best practices
Familiarity with modern data architectures (Lambda/Kappa)
Just as importantly, how you work:
A self-starter who takes ownership and drives work forward
Strong problem solver who focuses on understanding before building
Good judgement on build vs buy decisions
Comfortable working in ambiguity and shaping direction
Clear communicator across technical and non-technical audiences
Able to manage multiple streams of work without losing momentum
Pragmatic, balancing speed with scalability and reliability
Actively looks to improve ways of working, including leveraging AI tooling

Final interview with VP of Platform
