BSS Holland B.V. · Netherlands ·
Designs multi-sensor data-fusion pipelines and AI/ML models (detection, classification, tracking) that turn UAS and ISR feeds into time-critical situation awareness for defence operators. Day-to-day: building edge/hybrid architectures, validating models on mission data, and using AI-aided development tools, with Python, C/C++, Java and ML frameworks.

BSS Holland BV is dedicated to enhancing safety and operational effectiveness for citizens, first responders, and armed forces. We deliver innovative products, turnkey solutions, and specialized services to defense and homeland security organizations. Our core competencies include C4I (Command, Control, Communications, Computers & Intelligence), sensor integration, and manned, unmanned, and remote-controlled systems.By accelerating our customers’ OODA-loops (Observe–Orient–Decide–Act), we empower professionals with critical missions to perform effectively in complex operational environments.
As a Data fusion & AI Engineer, you operate at the intersection of sensors, data architectures, artificial intelligence, and operational use within a TRSC context. You design and deliver solutions that fuse heterogeneous sensor data (UAS, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance sources, external feeds) into reliable, time-critical situation understanding for operators and commanders. You are expected to actively use AI-aided development tools to accelerate modelling, prototyping, and iteration while retaining full ownership of assumptions, validation, and system behavior under stress.
You combine academic depth with a strong sense of operational reality. You understand that data fusion is not a purely mathematical problem, but a decision-making challenge under uncertainty, time pressure, and noise. You view AI not as magic, but as a tool that only creates value when it is trusted, explainable, and usable by operators.
Formal education is not the only path. If you are largely self-taught, highly curious, driven, and can demonstrate a strong track record (e.g. projects, deployments, open-source contributions, or operational prototypes), we strongly encourage you to apply.
Due to security and clearance considerations, candidates from NATO member states are preferred.Final eligibility is subject to applicable security screening requirements.
At BSS, data fusion is not an academic end state it is a forward position. You build while reality pushes back: sensors fail, networks degrade, and time is scarce. If you are motivated by turning complex data and AI into actionable tactical advantage, this role is designed for you.
