Data Engineering Tech Lead

Overview

In this role you will lead the data engineering squad to shape the Enterprise Data Platform while staying hands-on. You will define engineering standards, design scalable pipelines, and collaborate with Architecture to solve complex data problems. You will evolve data modelling, integrations, and platform reliability with AWS and Snowflake. Mentoring others and influencing platform direction are key parts of the role. Responsibilities

• Lead the technical direction of the Data Engineering squad and establish standards
• Design and build scalable data pipelines using Python, SQL, and Snowflake
• Collaborate with Architecture and Engineering to solve complex data problems
• Evolve the Enterprise Data Platform including modelling, integrations, performance and reliability
• Work with AWS to move and process data into Snowflake
• Mentor and support other data engineers to raise standards
• Influence platform evolution beyond predefined specs

Key requirements

• Strong commercial experience with Python and Snowflake
• Experience mentoring or technically leading other engineers
• Experience with dbt, Airflow, or similar data tooling
• Good understanding of data modelling and modern data platform architecture
• Experience with AWS or another major cloud platform
• Ability to translate business problems into technical solutions
• Strong communication skills to explain concepts to non-technical stakeholders
