A hands-on data engineer will design, build and own the data warehouse, ETL/ELT pipelines and Metabase dashboards behind laboratory and clinical operational data at VCGS (a Murdoch Children's Research Institute subsidiary), enabling near real-time monitoring and analysis. Core stack: SQL, Python, Metabase and AWS; no clinical or genomics background required.

Working within the Software Systems and Integration Unit, you will design, build and own our data warehouse, ETL pipelines and dashboards, enabling near real-time monitoring, reporting and deep-dive analysis of operational data.
This is a practical, hands-on data engineering role. The data happens to come from laboratory and clinical systems, but no clinical, genomics or scientific background is required — you will collaborate with domain experts, developers and operational teams to create scalable, reliable and well-designed data solutions.
The Victorian Clinical Genetics Service (VCGS), a not-for-profit subsidiary of the Murdoch Children's Research Institute (MCRI), offers integrated genetic testing, diagnostics, and counselling globally.
