Build the data backbone of modern quantitative finance.
We're looking for an exceptional Data Engineer to join a high‑performing Data Engineering team working at the core of a quantitative investment environment. This team builds the platforms that power systematic trading strategies, sophisticated research, and real‑time investment decisions.
You'll be working on a multi‑petabyte data platform, ingesting and processing billions of datapoints every day from thousands of global data sources—tackling hard distributed systems problems at serious scale.
If you enjoy working where engineering excellence directly impacts outcomes, this role is for you.
What makes this role exciting
- Engineer mission‑critical data systems used directly by researchers and trading teams
- Design and scale platforms handling massive volumes of market, alternative, and research data
- Solve complex challenges across distributed systems, performance, reliability, and scalability
- Work in a modern stack combining Java and Python, with Kafka, ArcticDB, MongoDB, and Linux‑based infrastructure
- Operate close to both cutting‑edge research and production decision‑making
What you’ll be building
- High‑performance services for data ingestion, storage, versioning, and access
- Scalable, fault‑tolerant data pipelines supporting research and trading workflows
- Platforms optimised for speed, accuracy, and reproducibility at enterprise scale
- Systems where performance, correctness, and engineering discipline truly matter
What you bring
- A strong academic background in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or similar
- 5–7+ years of professional software engineering experience with Java or Python
- Solid experience working in Linux environments and with Git
- Deep understanding of databases such as Iceberg, Postgres, or MongoDB
- A passion for problem‑solving, clean design, and high‑quality engineering
- Confidence working independently, gathering requirements, and collaborating across teams
Nice to have
- Experience with distributed systems, streaming, or orchestration frameworks
- Hands‑on exposure to large‑scale data processing and performance optimisation
- Contributions to open‑source projects
- Experience working with Large Language Models (LLMs) or AI‑driven tools
Why this role stands out
This is a chance to work on deep technical problems at extraordinary scale, in an environment that values engineering craft, intellectual curiosity, and real‑world impact. Your work won't sit in the background—instead it will directly shape how data is used to drive investment decisions.
