Data and Insights Analyst

Employment Type: Full-time, 2 Year Fixed Term Contract

Location: Sydney based

Hybrid Work arrangement: 3 days in the office to 2 days per week working from home, reporting to the Data Strategy & Data Governance Manager.

Salary: $110,000 Annual Base Salary plus superannuation

This role is for you if…

You enjoy turning data into meaningful insights that help organisations make better decisions.

You’re naturally curious, analytical and commercially aware, but you also know that good data work is about people, communication and trust, not just dashboards and spreadsheets.

You like solving problems, improving processes, and helping others understand what the data is actually telling them. You’re comfortable working across technical and non-technical teams, and you enjoy being the person who can connect the dots between data, business needs, and practical outcomes.

You want to work somewhere that:

• Uses data to support real environmental and organisational impact.
• Values initiative, collaboration and continuous improvement.
• Gives you exposure to strategic projects and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Is building its data capability and wants someone who can help shape it.

If you enjoy balancing analytical thinking with stakeholder engagement and practical delivery, this role will suit you well.

We are particularly interested in candidates who have worked closely with business teams and operational stakeholders, rather than purely IT support or technical infrastructure environments. The role requires someone who can bridge technical data concepts with practical business outcomes and stakeholder needs.

What you’ll be doing day to day

You’ll play a key role in supporting APCO’s reporting, analytics and data governance capability. Working closely with business and technical stakeholders, you’ll help transform complex information into clear, reliable and actionable insights.

Your work will include:

Data analysis and reporting

• Delivering reporting, dashboards and analysis to support operational and strategic decision-making.
• Identifying trends, risks, opportunities and improvement areas across complex datasets.
• Supporting the continuous improvement of reporting, data models and visualisations.
• Presenting insights and recommendations clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.

Stakeholder collaboration and business support

• Working with teams across the organisation to understand reporting and analytical requirements.
• Helping stakeholders improve data accessibility, usability and confidence in reporting outputs.
• Coordinating data-related issues, actions and improvement initiatives across teams.
• Supporting governance forums and cross-functional data initiatives.

Data governance and quality

• Supporting APCO’s data governance practices, standards and documentation.
• Contributing to data quality monitoring and continuous improvement activities.
• Promoting consistent, reliable and fit-for-purpose data management practices.
• Supporting reporting and compliance activities related to governance and data quality.

We are seeking someone who is:

Proactive, collaborative and outcomes-focused. You enjoy understanding how organisations operate and using data to support better decisions and business performance.

The right candidate for this role:

• Enjoys solving problems and finding patterns in data.
• Can communicate insights clearly and confidently.
• Builds strong working relationships across teams.
• Takes ownership and follows through on commitments.
• Is organised, detail-oriented and comfortable managing competing priorities.
• Enjoys improving systems, processes and ways of working.
• Cares about sustainability and wants their work to contribute to meaningful impact.

Experience we’re looking for

• Experience in data analysis, reporting or business intelligence roles.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
• Experience working with reporting and visualisation tools such as Power BI, Excel, SQL or similar platforms.
• Experience partnering with business stakeholders to translate operational needs into practical reporting and data solutions.
• Ability to bridge technical data concepts with business priorities and decision-making.
• Experience supporting data governance, data quality or reporting improvement initiatives is highly regarded.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience in a regulatory, membership, sustainability or not-for-profit environment is beneficial but not essential.

• Professional development and growth opportunities.
• Additional leave including Birthday and Impact leave.
