With a strong emphasis on Power BI dashboard development, data visualisation and performance reporting, this position offers the opportunity to turn complex datasets into meaningful insights that inform strategic planning, investment decisions and Brisbane's economic development.
Working closely with stakeholders across the organisation, you'll design and maintain reporting tools, analyse economic and business performance data and translate your findings into clear, actionable recommendations for senior leadership, the Board and external industry stakeholders.

What you’ll do- Design, build and maintain Power BI dashboards, reporting tools and enterprise performance scorecards;
- Cleanse, prepare, validate and visualise data to ensure accurate, reliable and accessible reporting;
- Analyse internal, market and third-party datasets to identify trends, risks and opportunities;
- Translate complex data into practical insights and recommendations that inform business planning, investment decisions and strategic priorities;
- Develop concise, visually engaging insight reports and presentations, including quarterly economic and industry performance updates;
- Maintain and enhance BEDA's enterprise KPI framework, ensuring consistent performance measurement and reporting;
- Contribute to economic analysis, forecasting and organisation-wide research initiatives;
- Review and strengthen economic activity methodologies, data integrity and reporting practices;
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and deliver meaningful analytical solutions; and
- Identify opportunities to improve reporting processes, analytical capability and the use of data across the organisation.
What you’ll bring- Strong hands-on Power BI experience, with the ability to independently design, develop and maintain dashboards and reporting solutions;
- Demonstrated capability in data cleansing, preparation, analysis and visualisation, supported by strong Excel skills;
- Sound analytical and statistical foundations, with the ability to interpret complex datasets, identify patterns and develop meaningful insights;
- Working knowledge of SQL, Python, R or other relevant analytical tools would be advantageous;
- Qualifications or studies in Data Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Business Analytics, Applied Mathematics, Finance, Econometrics or a related discipline;
- The ability to communicate analytical findings clearly and translate technical information into practical business recommendations;
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to data quality, accuracy and integrity;
- An intellectually curious, proactive and solutions-focused approach, with the confidence to challenge assumptions and explore new opportunities;
- Well-developed communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams; and
- Strong organisational skills, initiative and the ability to manage competing priorities.
