A machinist role (not a typical IT job): the person programs, sets up, and operates CNC turning machines with Fanuc controls to manufacture oilfield components from technical drawings, inspects finished parts with precision tools, and performs machine maintenance. Key skills are Fanuc CNC turning, blueprint reading, and ACME/STUB ACME/buttress threading.
Job Summary
You will program, set up, and operate CNC turning machines to produce components according to technical drawings, ensuring quality and efficiency in manufacturing processes.
Responsibilities
- Program CNC turning machines using Fanuc Control to meet design specifications
- Interpret technical blueprints and drawings to understand part requirements
- Set up CNC machines, selecting appropriate cutting tools and materials for production
- Adjust machine settings to optimize output while maintaining product quality
- Measure and inspect finished parts using precision tools such as micrometers, height gauges, and calipers to verify conformance to specifications
- Perform regular maintenance and troubleshoot CNC machines to ensure smooth operation
- Maintain detailed records of processes, tool usage, and production output
- Follow safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment
- Collaborate with engineers or designers to customize jobs and improve manufacturing processes
Required competencies and certifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Hands-on experience programming and setting CNC Fanuc Control (turning) machines
- Proficient in programming and setting CNC turning machines
- Skilled in performing various threading types including ACME, STUB ACME, and buttress
- Experience working in oil and gas industry manufacturing environments
