A 12-month day-rate contract with a large government body in Geelong (hybrid WFH) to stand up its security operations capability during an Azure transformation. Day to day you build monitoring, threat detection and incident response using Microsoft Sentinel, Defender, Purview and Azure security services, and define processes, playbooks and governance.
Salary: Geelong/WFH hybrid | 12-month day rate contract

What you'll do
- Establish security operations processes, monitoring, threat detection and incident response capabilities.
- Drive operational adoption of Microsoft Sentinel, Defender, Purview and Azure security services.
- Define responsibilities, escalation pathways and service coordination across internal teams and managed service providers.
- Support secure transition into production, developing playbooks, reporting and sustainable operating practices.
- Lead incident coordination and continuous improvement.
Skills and experience
- Experience as a Security Operations Lead, SOC Manager, Cyber Defence Lead, Incident Response Lead or similar.
- A track record of building or maturing security operations capabilities in complex enterprise environments.
- Practical Azure experience and strong knowledge of Microsoft security technologies.
- Confidence leading incident response and working across technical teams, delivery partners and senior stakeholders.
- Familiarity with VPDSF and Essential Eight frameworks is highly regarded.
