Civil - Project Manager

Some Project Managers track the work. Great Project Managers drive it.

Alpha Inc. is looking for a Project Manager who knows how to keep multiple civil construction projects moving without losing control of the details that separate an average job from an exceptional one: people, safety, production, schedule, cost, quality, and client trust.

This is not an entry-level PM role—and it’s not a desk job disguised as construction management.

You’ll lead multiple active projects and major scopes, develop Project Engineers, partner shoulder-to-shoulder with Superintendents and field leadership, stay ahead of cost and schedule risks, and make sure commitments turn into results.

We’re looking for someone who can see trouble coming before it hits the job, make the call when a decision needs to be made, and build a team that gets stronger with every project.

If you need someone else to own the outcome, this probably isn’t your role.

If you take ownership, build great teams, know your numbers, and refuse to compromise the standard—we should talk.

About Alpha Inc.

Founded and grown in Hawai?i, Alpha Inc. is a locally owned construction company helping build the infrastructure our island communities depend on.

From heavy civil construction and underground utilities to drilling, concrete, and renewable energy, we take on demanding work that requires strong people, serious equipment, disciplined execution, and a commitment to doing things right.

At Alpha, our values aren’t words hanging on a wall. They’re how we expect our people to show up:

Leading with Heart — Lead with humility. Teach, learn, accept feedback, take accountability, and treat people with respect.

Strength in Unity — Great projects aren't built by individuals. Communicate openly, collaborate across the office and field, and win as one team.

Alpha Mentality — Bring grit, character, and a growth mindset. Adapt, improve, own the outcome, and never compromise safety, quality, integrity, or ethics.

What You’ll Own

As a Project Manager, you’ll be responsible for turning plans into performance across multiple projects, crews, and active work fronts.

Run the Work

• Lead multiple concurrent civil construction projects and/or major project scopes while maintaining alignment with client expectations, budgets, schedules, safety requirements, and company objectives.
• Partner closely with Superintendents and field leadership to coordinate manpower, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and production plans.
• Keep the office and field connected so decisions happen quickly, accountability stays clear, and the work keeps moving.
• Drive consistent standards for safety, quality, productivity, and execution across every project under your leadership.

Know the Numbers

• Own rolling project forecasts, cost projections, budgets, and resource plans.
• Track performance across active jobs and use the numbers to identify trends, opportunities, and problems before they become expensive surprises.
• Oversee cost reporting, contracts, change orders, RFIs, submittals, procurement, and critical project documentation.
• Benchmark performance and use project metrics to improve productivity, scheduling, cost control, and consistency.

You shouldn't find out a project is in trouble after the numbers tell everyone else.

Lead the People

• Directly manage, coach, mentor, and develop Project Engineers.
• Set clear expectations, give meaningful feedback, and hold people accountable for results.
• Have real career-development conversations—not once a year, but as part of how you lead.
• Build stronger Project Engineers who are ready to take on more responsibility and become Alpha's next generation of project leaders.

Own the Risk

• Identify project risks early and put corrective actions in motion before safety, cost, schedule, or quality takes the hit.
• Solve problems proactively rather than waiting for someone above you to provide the answer.
• Know when to make the call, when to escalate, and when to bring the right people together to solve the problem.

Lead the Client Relationship

• Lead client meetings, status reviews, planning sessions, and stakeholder communications.
• Build credibility through transparency, preparation, follow-through, and results.
• Represent Alpha professionally with clients, subcontractors, partners, and project stakeholders—even when the conversation gets difficult.

Help Make Alpha Better

• Work alongside Senior Project Managers, Operations Managers, and department leaders on workload forecasting, staffing, operational planning, and improvement initiatives.
• Bring forward better ways to work.
• Share lessons learned across projects instead of solving the same problem twice.
• Help create stronger systems, stronger teams, and more predictable project outcomes as Alpha continues to grow.

What You Bring

We're not looking for someone who has simply held the title.

We're looking for someone who can point to projects, teams, and results and say: “I owned that.”

Experience & Qualifications

• 2-3 years of successful performance as a Project Manager or equivalent construction management experience.
• Demonstrated success managing multiple project scopes, teams, and/or concurrent projects with strong financial and operational results.
• Proven experience leading, developing, and managing people in a project-based construction environment.
• Strong understanding of civil construction operations, project delivery, cost control, scheduling, contract administration, and risk management.
• Ability to analyze project performance, build reliable forecasts, recognize variance, and take corrective action.
• Ability to manage multiple active work fronts without sacrificing safety, quality, budget, or schedule.
• Strong leadership, communication, organization, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to build trusted client relationships and represent Alpha professionally.

You'll probably thrive here if:

• You own outcomes, including the uncomfortable ones.
• You know what's happening with your projects because you're connected to the work—not because someone finally sent you a report.
• You can talk production with a Superintendent, cost with leadership, development with a Project Engineer, and expectations with a client.
• You don't confuse activity with results.
• You anticipate problems instead of becoming excellent at explaining them afterward.
• You hold a high standard without treating people poorly.
• You can manage competing priorities without creating chaos around you.
• You're coachable enough to keep learning and confident enough to lead.
• When something goes sideways, your first question is: “What are we going to do about it?”

Why Alpha?

Because you can build more here than a project.

Alpha Inc. continues to invest in its people, technology, equipment, and capabilities while taking on the infrastructure work that helps move Hawai?i forward.

For the right Project Manager, that means an opportunity to sharpen your craft, lead increasingly complex work, develop people, earn greater responsibility, and build a career with a company that believes growth should create opportunity for the people helping make it happen.

We want people who care about how the work gets done, who they become while doing it, and what they leave behind.
