The Gameplay team on EA SPORTS FC is at the core of the user experience. We attract passionate team members and foster their growth by providing support and opportunities. Gameplay Software Engineers are deeply involved in the collaborative game design process working alongside designers and animators to define the vision of the game, and bring it to life through their coding skills.
Our workflows and tools allow us to iterate quickly. Fixing gameplay bugs and seeing your code in action on the virtual pitch in a matter of minutes is an extremely satisfying experience.
We’re looking for a Gameplay Software Engineer Co-op to join our paid world-class paid internship experience. The start date for this opportunity is May 2027 (8-month term). You will report to the Development Director. This team works onsite at our studio in Burnaby 3 days a week, Tuesday to Thursday.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with designers, software engineers and animators to develop gameplay features for the world's biggest sports game in order to bring football to life on your screen.
Develop tools and workflows to improve productivity and empower designers and animators to realize their gameplay vision.
Prototype new and refine existing gameplay mechanics.
Work with a proprietary engine to develop modular, robust, and shareable code.
Help develop and maintain cutting edge AI and animation tech to push the limits of AAA gaming.
Requirements:
We encourage candidates from all backgrounds who meet the core requirements to apply, even if you do not meet every qualification.
You must be legally authorized to work in Canada for the entire internship - visa sponsorship is not available.
You must be enrolled in an accredited degree program and return to school for at least one semester following your internship with EA.
You must be graduating in May 2028 or later, including the time needed to complete your internship.
Relocation support may be available if you meet specific eligibility criteria.
Qualifications:
Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
Entry-level experience; prior internship, coursework, or personal projects in C++ are valued.
You are proficient at coding in C++
You understand object-oriented programming and have used vector math or trigonometry in a project.
You have knowledge of good software programming practices
You have working knowledge of 3D math concepts (Vectors, linear transformations, etc.)
