Amazon's mission is to be "Earth's most comprehensive selection" and "Earth's most customer-centric company." The Customer Experience we provide rests on three pillars: selection, low prices, and convenience. As the hub of Amazon Japan's Operations business, we operate approximately 30 Fulfillment Centers (FCs) and continue to expand in order to deliver a better Customer Experience. FCs are logistics hubs equipped with cutting-edge systems and facilities, shipping over 1.4 billion items in 2023. FC logistics management is less about running a warehouse and more akin to the process management found in manufacturing.
APEX-RoW Technology Solutions (ARTS), together with the FC Central team, is now seeking a customer-focused Business Intelligence Engineer to ambitiously support FC operations through technology. This position contributes to the Operations division's ongoing efforts to reduce costs, improve delivery speed, and expand selection for customers, by efficiently and effectively leveraging the Big Data gathered from across the entire Amazon Fulfillment Network throughout Japan. By applying the latest methods—such as data analysis, data pipeline construction, and data visualization—to operational challenges, this role drives standardization, automation, and optimization.
What makes this position appealing
Work moves at a very fast pace, with many changes every day. As the business expands rapidly, this is an environment where you can proactively take on new challenges and grow alongside the growth of the business. From a data management perspective, the environment offers the following:
- In a data-driven organization, you will learn methods for effectively leveraging big data for the business over the long term
- You will drive projects together with engineering team members from diverse backgrounds and skill sets, as well as business-side specialists
- You can be involved in every stage of designing and building KPIs, BI dashboards, data pipelines, and more, and drive them forward with a high degree of autonomy
- You can grow as a BIE capable of development based on AWS standards (Redshift, S3, Lambda, QuickSight, etc.)
Who we're looking for
- Someone who consistently brings flexibility and a sense of speed, and who proactively takes on problem-solving and action to make things better for both customers and Amazon
- Someone who can discern the essence of an issue, identify the root cause of a problem, and devise and execute fundamental solutions
- Someone who can drive improvements while collaborating with internal customer departments and stakeholders
At Amazon, you'll work alongside the latest AI and GenAI tools that are increasingly woven into how teams operate: from AI-powered capabilities that accelerate decision-making, to Generative AI that helps you focus on work that truly matters. You'll have opportunities and resources to develop AI fluency at your own pace, with continuous learning built into the culture.
