About the Opportunity
This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Company, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp.

This is a full-time, on-site position located in Akron, OH.
This position offers the opportunity to be a key member of the FirstEnergy’s Power Billing team that bills FE’s largest and complex accounts with special contracts. Analysts help functionalize new programs (e.g., Community Solar) as well as support day-to-day business, enhancing operations to effectively meet financial, operational, and compliance objectives. Additionally, the position supports conceptualization, development, implementation of, and improvements to billing tools and reporting (e.g., within PowerBI).
Responsibilities include:
- Ensure adherence to tariffs, regulatory, and SOx requirements.
- Design and implement solutions and controls to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Research, review, and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing tasks and recommend enhancements.
- Manage implementation of new programs or changes to existing programs.
- Having subject matter expertise to discuss billing with support reps, customers, and/or their third-party representative (e.g., energy brokers, consultants, etc.)
- Represent Power Billing internally in meetings and work groups with internal Legal, Rates, Information Technology, Customer Support, Engineering and Meter and externally with peer utilities and commission work groups
- Provide staff support to management and higher levels of professionals
- Lead and/or support projects through testing, project management, or as a subject matter expert
- Communicate changes, enhancements, and modifications of business requirements (verbally or through written documentation) to project managers, sponsors, and other stakeholders so that issues and solutions are understood.
- Identify and analyze system issues to determine root cause and/or solutions for process improvement.
Qualifications for the Business Analyst level include:
- Two or four year degree in a related discipline with minimum of 4 years relevant work experience required. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 7 years relevant work experience is required.
- Knowledge of metering, tariffs, and/or billing of large Commercial and Industrial customers are a plus.
- Must possess relationship building, analytical, critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills with focus on innovation.
- Relevant work experience includes strong financial aptitude, and some project leadership experience with the ability to incorporate creative and innovative solutions.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to tell
- Strong knowledge of SAP/CRM is a plus.
- Expertise in Excel, proficiency in query tools, and experience developing PowerBI strongly desired.
- Ability to conduct business-specific research, analyze data, interpret results, and make recommendations within established deadlines.
- Possesses a sound knowledge of basic researching techniques.
- Work experience must clearly demonstrate ability to quickly learn the activities within the area of focus.
- Proficiency in developing effective working relationships and professional networks throughout the organization.
- Ability to identify issues or problems and determine root causes and/or solutions.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Demonstrates a solid commitment to all aspects of safety.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Must be able to travel occasionally including overnight stays.
