Business Analyst at Dewpoint in Lansing, MI, serving as the liaison between business stakeholders and IT teams: eliciting and documenting requirements, mapping and optimizing processes, writing user stories and acceptance criteria, and supporting Agile/Waterfall delivery and UAT using Azure DevOps, Jira, Visio, and Lucidchart.
The Business Analyst partners with business stakeholders and IT teams to identify business needs, analyze processes, define requirements, and deliver technology solutions that improve operational efficiency and business outcomes. This role serves as a key liaison between business and technical teams, ensuring that solutions align with organizational objectives and user needs. The BA evaluates requests for new or enhanced functionality, elicits and documents requirements, and facilitates communication throughout the solution delivery lifecycle. To succeed in this role, the BA should possess strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical audiences.
Duties & Responsibilities
Evaluate business processes, anticipate requirements, identify opportunities for improvement, and develop recommended solutions.
Lead business process reviews and develop optimization strategies.
Facilitate stakeholder meetings, workshops, and presentations to gather requirements and communicate recommendations.
Gather, analyze, and document business, functional, and technical requirements.
Translate business requirements into actionable functional specifications, process flows, and user stories.
Track requirements from initiation through implementation and ensure traceability throughout the project lifecycle.
Collaborate with business stakeholders, clients, and development teams to ensure mutual understanding of requirements.
Communicate insights, risks, recommendations, and project status to stakeholders and leadership.
Ensure solutions align with business objectives and satisfy documented requirements.
Plan and support user functional testing and user acceptance testing activities as needed.
Update, implement, and maintain business processes, procedures, and supporting documentation.
Monitor project deliverables and help ensure timely completion of project milestones.
Education and Experience Requirements:
A bachelor’s degree in business, technology, computer science or a related field
A combination of education, experience and training may be considered in lieu of a formal degree
5+ years business analyst related experience facilitating stakeholder meetings, gathering requirements, and documenting business needs
Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills
Experience writing user stories and acceptance criteria
Experience with requirements management tools, process mapping, workflow documentation, testing methodologies, and reporting solutions
Ability to influence stakeholders and build consensus around business and technology solutions
Experience supporting Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, or hybrid project delivery methodologies, including backlog refinement, sprint planning, and requirements management
Working knowledge of current QA and Development practices and standards
Experience working with Azure DevOps, Jira, Visio, and Lucidchart
Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook
Strong verbal, written, facilitation, and presentation skills with the ability to communicate complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
Ability to work cross-functionally and concurrently on various teams and projects in a collaborative manner
Excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills
Demonstrated ability to work independently, resolve issues, and drive initiatives with minimal supervision
A track record of following through on commitments
