The Business Analyst - AI Specialist is the bridge between business strategy, user needs, data, technology and responsible AI delivery. The role identifies and shapes high-value AI opportunities, translates them into clear requirements and measurable outcomes, and supports multidisciplinary teams from discovery through implementation, adoption and continuous improvement.
This position combines strong business-analysis discipline with practical knowledge of generative AI, machine learning and automation.
This role suits an experienced Business Analyst who can independently own complex analysis, confidently facilitate stakeholder discussions and apply practical AI knowledge to improve business processes and customer outcomes. You will work closely with technical specialists, use approved AI tools responsibly to improve productivity, and apply sound judgement to determine when process improvement, automation or AI offers the best solution.
This hybrid opportunity is open to candidates in Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane.
Key Responsibilities
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Strong skills in discovery, stakeholder facilitation, process analysis, requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria and benefits definition.
Practical understanding of generative AI, large language models, machine learning, evaluation and human oversight, with sound judgement on when to use process improvement, automation or AI.
Experience using AI tools responsibly to improve productivity, with appropriate output validation and confidentiality controls.
Experience working with multidisciplinary teams in Agile, product-led or hybrid delivery environments.
Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts, challenge assumptions and explain trade-offs.
Understanding of privacy, security, data governance, ethics and risk considerations for AI solutions.
Highly regarded: experience delivering AI or automation solutions into production; familiarity with AI tools, RAG, APIs, SQL, model monitoring or responsible AI frameworks; and relevant qualifications or certifications.
