Department Overview

Rakuten Mobile is currently focusing heavily on our enterprise business. Within this, the Partner Sales Department is responsible for creating and expanding business through partners (MVNOs or sales agencies). We are leading the transformation of the telecommunications industry, leveraging the unparalleled and innovative technology infrastructure realized by Rakuten Mobile.
Our department is responsible for service planning and building frameworks to resell Rakuten Mobile's communication lines to corporate partners (MVNOs and sales agencies).

Business Incubation Section
The Business Incubation Section, which is recruiting for this position, is a new team established in the 2026 fiscal year. In addition to our existing MVNO business domain, we are tasked with business development and planning for IoT, global roaming, and other new businesses and services, and nurturing them into future sales phases. We are looking for a team member to join us who will specifically be responsible for business development and sales in the IoT domain.

We aim to expand our service planning and business development functions to meet diverse needs. This position, in particular, is focused on promoting service planning, market development, and business development with the mission of expanding the IoT business, which is a high-growth area.
You will be responsible for driving the business through a multifaceted approach, including collaborating and building partnerships with companies that provide IoT solutions, identifying market needs, and proposing value to customers.
We are looking for individuals who have experience in these fields, those who are interested and motivated to learn, and those who want to actively participate in new initiatives.

Position Details
Planning, Development, and Promotion of New IoT Services
- Planning B2B IoT services through market research, competitive analysis, and identification of customer needs.
- Formulating service specifications, coordinating with development departments, and managing projects through to release.

Formulating and Executing Collaboration and Partnership Strategies with IoT-related Businesses

- Searching for and approaching potential partner companies such as IoT solution providers, device manufacturers, and SIers.

- Planning and negotiating strategic alliances, concluding contracts, and building relationships.

- Developing services, proposing solutions, and pioneering markets through collaboration.

Market Development and Customer Acquisition for IoT Business (Planning Sales Function)

- Developing potential corporate customers, approaching them, and deepening our understanding of market needs through interviews.

- Proposing IoT solutions and consulting to solve customer challenges.

- Providing feedback on market needs and customer insights to the service planning team, contributing to service improvement.

- Promoting pilot implementations and PoCs (Proof of Concept), building customer relationships, and creating upsell/cross-sell opportunities with existing customers.

Building Business Schemes and Maximizing Profitability

- Examining new business models and designing revenue structures.

- Formulating business plans, managing budgets vs. actuals, and setting/tracking KPIs.

- Ensuring smooth business operations through collaboration with internal and external stakeholders (sales, technical, legal, etc.).

Work Environment
The section currently has about 20 members, and we expect to expand the organization to 30–50 members in the future. Therefore, we welcome not only young to mid-career professionals but also veterans who have successfully managed teams in challenging environments. Our members have a wide range of careers, from experienced mid-career professionals to younger staff. While a certain percentage of our members come from the telecommunications industry, those with experience in different industries have also integrated seamlessly.

Mandatory Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in business development or service planning.
- Strong communication and presentation skills (ability to coordinate with diverse internal and external stakeholders).
- Experience using Microsoft PowerPoint/Excel/Word.
- Business-level proficiency in Japanese.
- TOEIC score of 600 or higher.

Desired Qualifications:
- Experience in the full cycle of new business or service planning, from conception to execution.
- Experience in building alliances or negotiating with business partners.
- Ability to drive projects by communicating smoothly with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
- Logical thinking and problem-solving skills.
