About the role
We’re looking for an AWS Cloud Platform Engineer to join a team building and evolving the cloud platform that supports agent-based applications.
The role covers both the AWS foundation — including accounts, networking, identity, and Infrastructure as Code — and the path from code commit to a running agent. Each engineer will have a primary focus in one of two areas while working closely across both:
Infrastructure & IaC: Build and own the AWS foundation, including accounts, networking, identity boundaries, and reusable infrastructure modules.
CI/CD & Runtime Deployment: Own the path from commit to running agent, including container builds, Amazon ECR, CI/CD pipelines, environment promotion, and AgentCore Runtime configuration.
This is a hands-on platform engineering role focused on building secure, reusable, and reliable foundations that other engineering teams can confidently use.
Responsibilities
- Design and establish a multi-account AWS structure using AWS Organizations, Control Tower, or equivalent solutions, including guardrails and Service Control Policies.
- Design and maintain secure VPC and networking architectures, including VPC endpoints, PrivateLink, Transit Gateway, routing, and DNS.
- Define IAM roles, permission boundaries, and least-privilege access for platform services, pipelines, and consuming teams.
- Build and maintain reusable, versioned Infrastructure as Code modules using Terraform and/or AWS CDK/CloudFormation.
- Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines for building, testing, scanning, and publishing containers to Amazon ECR.
- Automate promotion across development, testing, and production environments, including approval gates, rollback, and version tracking.
- Configure and deploy agents to AgentCore Runtime, including session settings, scaling, configuration, and secrets management.
- Build starter repositories, pipeline templates, and golden paths to standardize how new agents are developed and deployed.
- Build security and compliance requirements into the platform from the beginning, including encryption, logging, tagging, image scanning, and auditability.
- Work closely with client security teams to define and validate platform security controls.
- Document modules, technical decisions, architecture, and operational procedures through documentation and runbooks.
- Collaborate effectively within a blended client and vendor team, communicating technical decisions clearly and building strong working relationships.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience in Cloud, Platform, or DevOps Engineering, including at least 4 years of hands-on experience building production AWS environments.
- Strong Infrastructure as Code experience with Terraform and/or AWS CDK/CloudFormation, including building reusable modules.
- Deep knowledge of AWS IAM, including cross-account access, permission boundaries, and Service Control Policies.
- Strong experience with AWS networking, including VPC design, routing, VPC endpoints, PrivateLink, Transit Gateway, and DNS.
- Hands-on experience building and managing CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, AWS CodePipeline, CodeBuild, or similar tools.
- Strong experience with Docker and Amazon ECR, plus deployment experience with ECS, EKS, Fargate, Lambda, or similar technologies.
- Experience with AWS Secrets Manager, Parameter Store, or other secrets and configuration management solutions.
- Deep hands-on expertise in at least one of the two focus areas, combined with working knowledge of the other.
- Previous consulting experience.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in blended client and vendor teams.
Nice to have
- AWS certifications such as Solutions Architect Professional, DevOps Engineer Professional, or Advanced Networking.
- Experience with Amazon Bedrock, AgentCore Runtime, or deploying LLM- and agent-based applications.
- Experience with policy-as-code and software supply chain security, including OPA, Checkov, cosign, SBOM tooling, Amazon Inspector, or similar technologies.
- Experience in pharma, life sciences, healthcare, or other regulated industries with strict security and change control requirements.
- Previous experience and connections within the Life Sciences industry.
