Automation QA Engineer (QVAC)

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Automation QA Engineer (QVAC) based in India.

Join a globally distributed engineering environment where software quality, reliability, and user experience are central to product development. As an Automation QA Engineer, you will help ensure the quality of desktop and mobile applications by combining robust test automation with hands-on manual and exploratory testing. You will design and maintain automated tests for critical user journeys, integrate them into continuous integration and delivery pipelines, and improve the speed and reliability of testing workflows. Working closely with developers and product teams, you will identify risks early, strengthen testability, and ensure new features meet defined acceptance criteria. You will also leverage AI-powered tools thoughtfully to improve testing efficiency while validating their output critically. This fully remote opportunity is ideal for a quality-focused engineer who enjoys solving technical challenges and building dependable applications across platforms.

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test suites for critical user flows across desktop and mobile applications.

• Implement and maintain desktop and web automation using Playwright, along with mobile automation using WebdriverIO and Appium.

• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines, such as GitHub Actions, to support efficient, consistent, and reliable software delivery.

• Monitor automated test results, investigate failures, troubleshoot flaky tests, and improve test stability and execution speed.

• Manage test data and testing environments to ensure accurate, repeatable, and dependable test execution.

• Perform hands-on functional, exploratory, and regression testing for new features, application updates, and existing functionality.

• Assess testing risks and determine the appropriate balance between manual and automated coverage while maintaining effective regression suites.

• Identify, document, and report defects with clear reproduction steps, relevant evidence, and expected versus actual behavior.

• Verify bug fixes and conduct follow-up testing to confirm that issues have been resolved without introducing regressions.

• Collaborate with developers and product stakeholders to improve application testability, clarify acceptance criteria, and incorporate quality considerations throughout development.

• Test desktop and mobile applications built with technologies such as Electron and React Native, including validation on real iOS and Android devices.

• Use AI-powered tools to support QA activities, critically evaluate their output, and identify opportunities to improve testing workflows and effectiveness.

Requirements

• At least 4 years of professional experience in QA automation, along with practical experience in manual, functional, and exploratory testing.

• Strong programming skills in TypeScript and/or JavaScript for developing and maintaining automated test frameworks and test cases.

• Hands-on experience with Playwright for desktop or web application testing.

• Practical experience using WebdriverIO and Appium for mobile application automation.

• Experience testing Electron and/or React Native applications across relevant desktop and mobile environments.

• Demonstrated experience testing applications on real iOS and Android devices.

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and experience integrating automated tests into build and deployment workflows, using tools such as GitHub Actions.

• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills, including the ability to diagnose test failures, identify flaky tests, and improve test reliability.

• Experience designing and maintaining regression suites and making informed decisions about test coverage based on risk.

• Ability to write clear, reproducible bug reports and systematically validate fixes.

• Experience using AI tools in QA workflows, with the judgment to assess their accuracy, limitations, and suitability for specific testing tasks.

• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and a quality-first mindset.

• Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with engineering and product teams.

• Adaptability and a commitment to continuous learning and improving testing practices.

• Preferred: Experience testing AI-powered applications and evaluating their behavior, reliability, and output quality.

Benefits

• Fully remote work: The position is advertised as 100% remote, offering flexibility in where you work, subject to applicable employment arrangements.

• Global collaboration: Opportunities to work with distributed engineering and product teams across locations.

• Modern testing technologies: Hands-on experience with Playwright, WebdriverIO, Appium, CI/CD automation, and AI-assisted QA tools.

• Cross-platform engineering exposure: Work on desktop and mobile applications, including Electron and React Native projects.

• Technical development: Strengthen expertise in test automation, software quality engineering, regression testing, and continuous delivery.

• Meaningful quality impact: Help improve application stability, prevent regressions, and deliver dependable user experiences.

• AI-enabled workflows: Explore practical ways to use AI tools in software testing while applying critical thinking and sound engineering judgment.
