Associate Director - Profile, Identity & Access Product Owner

At Lilly, the work is demanding because patients are waiting. We unite caring with discovery to help make life better for people around the world, knowing that every decision, every detail, and every day matters. Headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana, our over 50,000 employees around the globe take on complex challenges to discover and deliver life-changing medicines, strengthen how health is understood and managed, and support the communities we serve. This is hard, urgent, selfless work—but it’s work worth doing. If you’re driven by purpose and ready to bring your best to work that truly matters for patients, we invite you to join us.

Every person who logs into a Lilly consumer experience passes through the system you'll own. Global pharma companies rarely hand a single person the directive to both run a critical product and set its AI strategy — this role does both. You will own Single Sign-On, consumer profile and identity as a real product with real collaborators.

This is a product leadership seat, not a queue to work through. You set direction, you make the call on what gets automated and when, and you represent this domain to senior leadership. If you want to build a category-defining career in AI-era data product management inside a company whose products save lives, this is that opportunity.

• Real ownership, real impact: You lead the roadmap for profile, identity and access across CTI-Commercial — not a slice of it, all of it.

• Ground floor of AI transformation: You'll define which parts of this domain get automated first, working directly with Lilly's emerging semantic layer and agentic pipeline capabilities — rare, in-demand experience.

• Visibility that matters: You'll represent this domain directly to senior technology leadership, with a clear line of sight to strategic decisions.

• A career path, not a job description: This role is explicitly designed to grow — from product owner today to domain intelligence/architecture.

• Purpose behind the platform: Every improvement you ship makes it easier and safer for patients, providers, and caregivers to reach Lilly's medicines and services.

Own the Product

• Roadmap ownership: lead the SSO / consumer login product roadmap end-to-end — prioritization, delivery, and stakeholder alignment

• Translation: turn business and compliance requirements into technical direction, and technical constraints back into business terms collaborators can act on

• Integration: manage integration points across identity, consent, and downstream consumer systems

• Trust and compliance: own data quality, Protect Lilly, and data usage compliance for the identity domain

• Accountability: define product-level SLAs and KPIs — and report on outcomes, not ticket volume

• Stakeholder leadership: represent the identity & access domain to senior stakeholders as needed

Set the AI Strategy

• Roadmap authorship: define the AI/automation roadmap for identity and access — what gets automated, in what sequence, and under what governance

• Pilot selection: identify and prioritize AI pilot candidates within the SSO/identity domain (e.g., anomaly detection, exception triage, adaptive authentication)

• Technical direction: set direction for engineers and contractors completing the roadmap — you direct the work, you don't need to hand-code it

• Governance by design: partner with governance and architecture leads so automation is policy-compliant and audit-ready from day one

Where This Role Is Headed (2026–2028)

• Evolve: grow from product owner into a domain intelligence / architecture lead as agentic automation absorbs execution work

• Partner: work with the architects and technical leads to encode profile and identity domain knowledge into Lilly's semantic layer

• Lead governance: own DataGovOps / policy-as-code standards for the profile and identity domain as controls shift from manual review to embedded automation

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, management information systems, or a related field

• 7+ years delivering technical products or platforms, with demonstrated product ownership

• Experience with cloud technologies such as AWS or Azure

• Working fluency in SQL and/or Python — enough to direct technical work credibly, evaluate trade-offs, and hold engineers accountable

• Experience applying quality, compliance, and data governance requirements in a regulated environment

What Sets You Apart

• Experience owning profile, identity, authentication, or consent infrastructure as a product

• Working knowledge of agentic AI patterns — what's realistically automatable today vs. what still needs a human, and why

• A track record of writing and defending a technology roadmap to senior, non-technical collaborators

• Comfort operating with less spec and more ambiguity as the operating model shifts toward AI-curated pipelines

• Sharp analytical instincts — you dig into root cause rather than resolving symptoms

• Genuine curiosity about where AI is taking data product management, and the drive to help define it

The Consumer Data Organization owns Lilly's consumer identity, consent, and privacy infrastructure across CTI-Commercial — building toward a 2030 model where AI agents run the data stack and a small, senior team governs it. This role sits at the center of that transition: identity and access is one of the first domains where AI-assisted operations will be piloted, which means the person in this seat helps set the pattern for everything that follows.

Our tech team builds and maintains capabilities using the same cutting-edge technology as the most prominent tech companies in the world — but every solution we deliver is in service of one purpose: creating medicines that make life better for people around the world. We hire technology professionals from a range of backgrounds so that diverse thinking shapes every product we build, from data-driven drug discovery to connected clinical trials.
