Complex Cases. Strong Mentorship. Become a Better Litigator.

Associate Attorney | New Jersey

An active New Jersey Bar license is required.

The best way to become a strong litigator is to work on meaningful cases, take on real responsibility, and learn from attorneys who know how to navigate complex litigation.

That is what we are building at Tyson & Mendes in New Jersey.

Our growing New Jersey team is looking for an Associate Attorney who wants substantive litigation experience, thoughtful mentorship, and increasing responsibility as their skills and judgment develop.

Our attorneys handle complex, high exposure matters, including multimillion dollar losses, professional liability, medical malpractice, catastrophic personal injury, wrongful death, and other significant civil defense litigation.

If you want to understand the entire case, not simply complete assignments, we would like to meet you.

Work on Cases That Will Challenge You

This is an opportunity to develop your skills on sophisticated matters where strategy and preparation matter.

You will gain experience with discovery, depositions, substantive motion practice, expert work, case evaluation, client communication, mediation, witness preparation, and trial preparation.

As you demonstrate your capabilities, you will have opportunities to take greater ownership of your matters and become increasingly involved in case strategy and client relationships.

We want you to understand not only what needs to be done, but why it matters and what should happen next.

Learn From an Experienced New Jersey Litigator

Our New Jersey office is led by Danielle DeGeorgio, New Jersey Branch Office Managing Partner, whose practice focuses on catastrophic personal injury, wrongful death, insurance coverage, and professional malpractice.

Danielle has extensive New Jersey litigation experience, including courtroom work, trial preparation, dispositive motion practice, appellate matters, and the preparation of fact and expert witnesses.

Her approach to developing attorneys balances mentorship with autonomy.

She will give you room to think, make decisions, and develop your own judgment. At the same time, she stays connected enough to provide guidance, help you strategize, and step in before you find yourself too far off course.

The goal is not to micromanage you.

The goal is to help you become increasingly capable of managing cases independently.

Build Real New Jersey Litigation Experience

We are looking for an attorney who wants to practice in New Jersey, understand its courts, and develop meaningful experience in the state.

This is particularly important to our team.

We want associates who are interested in learning the nuances of New Jersey litigation and becoming attorneys clients and colleagues can trust to handle matters here.

Insurance defense experience is strongly valued. If you already understand carrier relationships, billing requirements, and the fundamentals of defense practice, you will have an excellent foundation to continue building from.

Grow With the Office

Our New Jersey practice has grown considerably since it was established, and we are continuing to build a stable, collaborative team of attorneys who want to grow with it.

Because this is a developing office, your contribution is visible.

You have the opportunity to know the attorneys you work with, develop relationships with leadership, take on greater responsibility as you progress, and become an important part of the team as the practice continues to grow.

We value people who are professional, responsive, collaborative, and willing to help one another succeed.

Modern Tools for Modern Litigation

We believe developing great attorneys also means giving them great resources.

Tyson & Mendes continues to invest in AI enabled legal tools, advanced research resources, modern case management technology, and systems designed to help attorneys work more effectively.

You will also have access to our APEX methodology, Trial Academy, and nationally recognized approach to Stopping Nuclear Verdicts®.

These tools and frameworks complement the practical experience you gain on your cases and give you additional ways to think strategically about litigation.

Who Will Thrive Here?

You are a New Jersey attorney with a solid litigation foundation and a genuine interest in becoming an excellent defense litigator.

You are a self starter who thinks ahead.

You do not simply wait for the next assignment. You pay attention to the case, anticipate deadlines, communicate proactively, follow through, and ask thoughtful questions when you need guidance.

You care about the quality of your work and understand that responsiveness, preparation, strong writing, good judgment, and professionalism are essential to earning greater responsibility.

Most importantly, you want to learn.

Flexibility Without Losing Your Team

Our New Jersey attorneys have flexibility to work remotely while remaining connected to their colleagues and leadership.

Danielle believes experienced attorneys should have room to practice, but she also understands the value of collaboration, particularly for strategy, witness preparation, depositions, and trial development.

As you grow, there may be times when working together in person provides the best learning opportunity, and we want associates who see the value in that connection.

Come Build Your Practice With Us

You do not need to have every answer yet.

You need a strong foundation, initiative, curiosity, and the willingness to keep getting better.

We will give you sophisticated cases, experienced mentors, modern resources, meaningful responsibility, and room to grow into the litigator you want to become.

Join Danielle DeGeorgio and the Tyson & Mendes New Jersey team and build what comes next in your litigation career.
