Associate Attorney

Associate Attorney | Insurance Defense | Philadelphia

Build Your Litigation Career Alongside Attorneys Who Know How to Try Cases.

Tyson & Mendes is seeking an Associate Attorney with 3+ years of litigation experience to join our Philadelphia team.

If you're looking for more than simply managing files, this is an opportunity to work alongside a highly experienced team, handle substantive insurance defense litigation, and continue developing the skills that make you a stronger litigator.

Sophisticated Work. Real Responsibility.

Our Philadelphia team handles a diverse range of civil defense matters, including:

• Commercial motor vehicle and trucking litigation

• Premises liability

• Professional liability

• Products liability

• Construction matters

• Personal injury and wrongful death

Associates have the opportunity to develop case strategy, handle discovery, take and defend depositions, work with experts, argue motions, interact directly with clients and carriers, and prepare matters for trial.

Learn From a Highly Experienced Team

The Philadelphia office is co-led by Partner Maureen Daley, who brings more than 25 years of litigation experience in state and federal courts. Her practice includes premises liability, products liability, employment, construction defect, commercial motor vehicle litigation, and other complex defense matters.

This is a senior, collaborative team, giving associates access to experienced litigators who can provide perspective, strategy, and mentorship as they continue building their own practices.

You'll also work closely with experienced attorneys who take a thoughtful approach to litigation, looking beyond cookie-cutter defense strategies and finding the right approach for each case.

Hybrid + Connected

This is a hybrid position designed to balance flexibility with meaningful in-person collaboration.

New attorneys should expect to work in the Philadelphia office approximately three days per week during onboarding, with additional flexibility after the first 60 days.

We believe those early in-person connections matter, especially when you're joining a team with this much experience to learn from.

What We're Looking For

• 3+ years of civil litigation experience
• Insurance defense experience strongly preferred
• Pennsylvania Bar admission required; New Jersey Bar strongly preferred
• Prior billing experience required
• Strong discovery and deposition experience
• Second-chair jury trial experience is a plus
• Experience with trucking, commercial auto, premises liability, or professional liability is especially valuable
• Ability to work collaboratively while independently moving cases forward

Build the Experience That Moves Your Career Forward.

The right attorney for this team is curious, hardworking, collaborative, and ready to learn from experienced litigators while taking increasing ownership of their own matters.

If you want sophisticated defense work, meaningful responsibility, strong mentorship, and a team that will help you continue developing as a litigator, we'd love to meet you.

Bring your experience. Keep building your skills. See where they can take you.
