Architect

Location: Singapore
Employment Type: Full-Time
Company: Studioshen

About Studioshen

Studioshen is a Singapore-headquartered architecture and design practice with a growing presence across Southeast Asia.

We are an architecture and design practice focused on thoughtful, climate-responsive, and financially grounded architecture. We work with private homeowners, developers, and institutional clients, delivering design that is spatially intelligent, constructible, and strategically sound.

As our practice grows, we are looking for an experienced Architect to join our Singapore team and take a leadership role in the design and delivery of projects.

The Role

We are looking for someone who can do more than manage drawings and submissions.

As an Architect, you will be expected to take ownership of projects from design through construction, lead project teams, communicate confidently with clients and consultants, and exercise sound architectural judgement.

You will work closely with the Directors while mentoring younger members of the team and helping Studioshen continually improve the quality and consistency of our work.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Architectural Leadership

• Lead projects from concept design through design development, documentation and construction.
• Develop thoughtful architectural solutions in response to the site, client brief, regulatory requirements, budget and construction constraints.
• Critically review design options and guide junior team members in developing stronger solutions.
• Maintain a high standard of design, detailing and documentation.

Project Leadership

• Take ownership of project programmes, deliverables and key milestones.
• Lead and coordinate internal project teams.
• Coordinate effectively with structural, M&E and other specialist consultants.
• Identify problems early and drive them towards resolution.
• Conduct site inspections and resolve construction and detailing issues.

Client Management

• Build strong and trusted relationships with clients.
• Understand the client's objectives beyond the immediate architectural brief.
• Present design proposals clearly and confidently.
• Advise clients on architectural, regulatory, technical and practical considerations.
• Manage expectations and guide clients through the design and construction process.

Authorities & Technical Delivery

• Have a strong working knowledge of Singapore planning and building regulations.
• Coordinate and manage submissions to relevant authorities.
• Understand regulatory requirements and incorporate them into the design process from an early stage.
• Review drawings and documentation for accuracy, coordination and completeness.
• Work closely with contractors during construction to maintain design intent and resolve site issues.

Team Development

• Mentor Architectural Associates and Assistants.
• Review work and provide clear, constructive guidance.
• Share technical and project knowledge across the studio.
• Contribute to the development of Studioshen's internal standards, SOPs, training materials and design knowledge.

How We Think About Design

At Studioshen, good architecture is not judged by aesthetics alone.

We evaluate our work through four interconnected considerations:

Climate Performance — responding intelligently to climate, orientation, daylight, ventilation and environmental conditions.

Spatial Efficiency — making every part of the building work harder and creating better experiences without unnecessary space.

Construction Logic — designing with an understanding of how buildings are detailed, coordinated and built.

Financial Accountability — understanding that architectural decisions have real implications for construction cost, operating cost and long-term value.

We are looking for an Architect who can apply this kind of thinking independently rather than simply execute instructions.

Who We're Looking For

You should have:

• A recognised degree in Architecture.
• Approximately 4 - 8 years of relevant professional experience, preferably with substantial Singapore project experience.
• Strong knowledge of Singapore authority requirements and submission processes.
• Experience leading architectural projects through multiple stages.
• Strong design and technical abilities.
• Experience coordinating consultants and contractors.
• Confidence in managing and presenting to clients.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• The ability to lead and mentor junior architects.
• Good judgement, initiative and attention to detail.

Registration with the Board of Architects Singapore is advantageous but not essential.

The Person We're Looking For

We are looking for someone who demonstrates judgement, ownership and leadership.

You should be comfortable making decisions, questioning assumptions, identifying issues before they become problems and taking responsibility for the outcome of a project.

You should also enjoy developing younger architects and contributing to the improvement of the practice as a whole.

Why Join Studioshen

Studioshen is at a stage where experienced team members can have a meaningful influence on how the practice develops.

Beyond delivering projects, you will have the opportunity to help shape our design standards, training systems, project processes and studio culture as we continue to grow in Singapore and across the region.

For the right individual, this role offers a pathway towards greater project, studio and leadership responsibilities within Studioshen.
