Application Developer – Workday Financials

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze and assess business requests and translate finance requirements into Workday Financials application enhancements and configuration changes.
• Develop, configure, enhance, and maintain Workday Financial Management modules, including Core Financials, Procurement, Financial Reporting, or other related modules.
• Translate business requirements into technical/functional specifications, application designs, configuration changes, and development solutions.
• Manage application change requests through the full lifecycle, including requirement analysis, impact assessment, design, development/configuration, testing, deployment, and post-production support.
• Configure and enhance financial business processes, approval workflows, security groups, calculated fields, and related application functionality.
• Develop and maintain Workday financial reports and reporting solutions based on business requirements.
• Perform unit testing, System Integration Testing (SIT), and support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) with Finance and business users.
• Troubleshoot and resolve application defects, configuration issues, workflow errors, and production incidents.
• Support application releases, enhancements, upgrades, and post-production activities.
• Prepare and maintain technical/functional specifications, configuration documentation, test scripts, test evidence, and application support documentation.
• Work closely with Finance, IT, HR, Procurement, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and manage application dependencies.
• Monitor application requests and incidents and provide regular updates on status, risks, issues, and resolution progress.
• Identify opportunities for application optimization, automation, process improvement, and enhanced system functionality.
• Ensure application changes comply with established security, governance, change management, and operational standards.

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline.
• 3–5 years of hands-on experience in Workday Financials application development, configuration, implementation, enhancement, or support.
• Hands-on experience configuring and enhancing Workday Financial Management modules, such as:Core FinancialsAccounts Payable (AP)Accounts Receivable (AR)General Ledger (GL)ProcurementFinancial Reporting
• Strong understanding of finance and accounting business processes.
• Experience with Workday business process configuration, approval workflows, security groups, calculated fields, and application configuration.
• Experience translating business requirements into application specifications and configuration/development solutions.
• Experience in application testing, SIT, UAT, deployment, and production support.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with attention to financial data accuracy and system integrity.
• Ability to prepare clear technical/functional specifications, test scripts, and application documentation.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Experience working in large, complex enterprise environments is preferred.
