📍 Location: JBT Marel Boxmeer

💥 Lead the Future of Work at JBT Marel

🌍 Shape the Future of Product Lifecycle Management

At JBT Marel, we are accelerating the transformation and standardization of our global engineering and product development landscape. To support this journey, we are looking for a highly experienced Senior Solution Architect PLM & Engineering Applications who will play a pivotal role in shaping the future architecture of our Product Lifecycle Management ecosystem.

This is a strategic role with significant business impact. You will be responsible for defining and driving solution architecture decisions that support critical PLM initiatives, engineering system transformations, integrations, and digitalization programs across our global organization.

Working closely with business stakeholders, engineering teams, digital leaders, vendors, and fellow architects, you will ensure that technology decisions contribute to scalable, secure, and future-proof solutions that enable our global engineering organization to operate at its best.

🔍 About the Role

As our new Senior Solution Architect PLM & Engineering Applications, you will be part of the architecture function supporting business-critical engineering platforms and processes.

You will serve as a trusted advisor and technical authority for PLM-related initiatives, ensuring that business requirements are translated into practical and sustainable solutions that deliver value both today and in the future.

This position is not solely focused on technology design. You will actively drive decision-making, influence stakeholders, challenge assumptions, and maintain oversight of the complete application lifecycle from strategy to implementation and ongoing support.

🧠 What You’ll Do

You will:

• Define and own solution architectures supporting JBT Marel's global PLM and engineering systems landscape.
• Lead architectural design activities for strategic PLM transformation and implementation programs.
• Develop, document, and defend High-Level Designs and Solution Designs.
• Translate business capabilities and requirements into scalable, maintainable, and secure technology solutions.
• Ensure alignment between PLM, CAD, ERP, integrations, infrastructure, cloud, and cybersecurity domains.
• Challenge proposed requirements and solution approaches to drive optimal business outcomes.
• Balance short-term delivery needs with long-term architecture principles and objectives.
• Drive standardization and harmonization across engineering applications and processes.
• Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance to implementation teams, developers, and external partners.
• Support architectural governance and technology roadmap development.
• Take ownership of lifecycle management, platform sustainability, upgrades, technical debt reduction, performance, security, and supportability.
• Collaborate closely with business leaders, engineering teams, project managers, product owners, vendors, and enterprise architects.
• Act as a sparring partner for fellow architects and contribute to architecture reviews and knowledge sharing.

💼 Your Environment

You will operate in an international environment where engineering excellence, innovation, and digital transformation are key strategic priorities.

You will work closely with:

• Engineering and Innovation teams
• Digital & IT organization
• Product Lifecycle Management specialists
• CAD and Product Data Management teams
• ERP and Integration teams
• External technology vendors and implementation partners

A key aspect of this role is partnering with an existing Senior Architect to form a strong architectural leadership team that combines strategic thinking, technical depth, and pragmatic execution.

🛠️ What You Bring

Experience & Expertise

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Minimum 8 years of relevant experience within IT, engineering applications, PLM, or a comparable environment.
• At least 5 years of experience in a Solution Architect, Technical Architect, or similar architectural role.
• Ideally 10-15 years of experience within complex international enterprise organizations.
• Strong experience within Product Lifecycle Management and engineering application environments.
• Experience with solutions such as PTC Windchill, CONTACT Software, Autodesk Vault Professional, or similar PLM platforms.
• Knowledge of engineering applications including CAD solutions such as Creo, SolidWorks, and Inventor.
• Strong understanding of the interaction between PLM, CAD, ERP, cloud platforms, infrastructure, security, and integrations.
• Demonstrated experience creating and defending architectural decisions, solution designs, and technology roadmaps.

Professional Capabilities

• Strong end-to-end architectural thinking across business processes, applications, integrations, and platforms.
• Ability to translate complex business requirements into sustainable enterprise solutions.
• Skilled at balancing standardization versus customization.
• Strong understanding of scalability, maintainability, security, and operational excellence.
• Sufficient technical depth to challenge technical teams, vendors, and implementation partners.
• Proven ability to drive decisions and influence senior stakeholders.
• Experience working in environments undergoing transformation and technology modernization.

🌟 Who You Are

Success in this role is determined as much by mindset and leadership as by technical expertise.

You are a strategic and hands-on architect who enjoys connecting business needs with technology solutions and taking ownership from concept through execution. You combine technical depth with strong stakeholder management and are comfortable operating in complex, fast-changing environments.

You:

• Think beyond individual applications and projects, taking an end-to-end view across business processes, systems, integrations, security, and long-term maintainability.
• Balance strategic architecture thinking with a pragmatic, delivery-focused approach.
• Take ownership, create momentum, and proactively drive topics from discussion to decision and implementation.
• Are comfortable making architectural choices and can clearly articulate the rationale behind your recommendations.
• Challenge requirements, assumptions, and proposed solutions constructively to achieve the best business outcomes.
• Focus on standardization, scalability, and sustainable solutions while recognizing when flexibility is required.
• Bring sufficient technical depth to engage confidently with developers, engineers, architects, and technology partners.
• Care about the full solution lifecycle, including performance, upgrades, technical debt, security, supportability, and operational excellence.
• Translate architecture into practical solutions that can be successfully implemented, adopted, and maintained.
• Build strong relationships across business, IT, leadership teams, and external vendors.
• Thrive in collaborative environments and value constructive debate, peer reviews, and knowledge sharing.
• Remain effective in situations where requirements are evolving and not every process is fully defined or standardized.
• Follow through on commitments and ensure decisions, actions, and dependencies are effectively managed through completion.
• Are visible, approachable, and recognized as a trusted advisor within your team and stakeholder community.

Most importantly, you are an architect who combines strategic thinking with execution, influencing decisions while remaining closely connected to delivery and business outcomes.
