APAC Senior Tax Manager (Malaysia)
We’re looking for a dynamic and driven APAC Senior Tax Manager to join our global tax team at a fast-growing multinational corporation. This high-visibility role is responsible for leading tax compliance, planning, and advisory activities across the Asia-Pacific region, ensuring adherence to local tax laws and regulations while supporting the company’s global tax strategy. The APAC Senior Tax Manager will partner closely with regional business leaders and functional teams to manage corporate tax matters, transfer pricing initiatives, tax audits, and reporting requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
Essential Functions
- Partner with regional cross-functional stakeholders throughout APAC to support tax-efficient structuring for business operations, expansion activities, and strategic initiatives, optimizing tax outcomes while supporting business objectives.
- Lead and coordinate APAC tax compliance activities, including oversight of corporate income tax filings, tax incentives, and other regulatory reporting requirements.
- Collaborate with regional finance and tax teams to ensure timely and accurate completion of tax filings and regulatory submissions for APAC entities.
- Support U.S. international components of the quarterly and annual worldwide income tax provision process, including coordination of APAC tax reporting requirements.
- Review foreign tax packages and supporting information required for financial statement audits, income tax audits, and jurisdiction-specific tax examinations.
- Manage tax audits, inquiries, and examinations across APAC jurisdictions, coordinating responses with internal stakeholders and external advisors.
- Support transfer pricing documentation, intercompany arrangements, and tax risk assessments across the region.
- Drive process improvements to enhance the accuracy, timeliness, and efficiency of international tax compliance and reporting processes.
- Assist in the management of international tax projects, including coordination with external advisors and regional business partners.
- Support tax planning initiatives, mergers and acquisitions activities, and other cross-functional assignments as needed.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field required; advanced degree preferred.
- 7+ years of tax experience, including financial reporting and tax compliance, preferably within a multinational manufacturing company and/or a public accounting firm.
- Professional accounting or tax certification (MICPA, CPA, ACCA, or equivalent) preferred.
- Strong knowledge of corporate income tax, withholding tax, transfer pricing, and tax incentive regimes across APAC jurisdictions.
- Experience managing tax audits, tax authority inquiries, and tax controversy matters.
- Strong knowledge of financial and accounting systems and experience working with multinational reporting environments.
- Experience supporting U.S. international tax reporting and collaborating with global tax teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to gather, interpret, and analyze complex data effectively.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to work effectively across cultures and geographies.
- Responds to inquiries with professionalism, sound judgment, and tact.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Works effectively both independently and as part of a team, with a willingness to share knowledge and mentor others.
- Flexible and committed to meeting strict reporting and tax compliance deadlines.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English and Mandarin.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
