Analytics Engineer

This position is responsible end-to-end for the technical and data execution to build and maintain Compass, a business intelligence product within the Northstar app that serves as the central dashboard for MGMI's management and top leaders. The main responsibilities cover the entire data processing lifecycle, from managing data sources, processing metrics, and creating dashboards, to developing supporting applications and system maintenance.

This position is responsible end-to-end for the technical and data execution to build and maintain Compass, a business intelligence product within the Northstar app that serves as the central dashboard for MGMI's management and top leaders. The main responsibilities cover the entire data processing lifecycle, from managing data sources, processing metrics, and creating dashboards, to developing supporting applications and system maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

• Translate information requirements by clarifying management needs, as well as preparing data designs, dashboards, and effort estimations.
• Develop data source integrations into approved applications and databases, including handling authentication and scheduling automatic updates.
• Process, clean, and model data to ensure consistent and traceable calculations.
• Implement metric definitions and formulas confirmed by business owners and document them.
• Maintain data accuracy by building automated checks, reconciling data sources, and investigating data discrepancies.
• Build and develop the Compass dashboard, including chart visualizations, filters, drill-down details, and data update time statuses.
• Develop supporting applications, including building the frontend, backend, and authentication integrations, as well as reviewing and testing AI-assisted code.
• Implement engineering and security standards (such as authorization and data access restrictions) and follow up on risk findings.
• Release and maintain applications by executing testing, deployments, monitoring, bug fixing, and operational documentation.
• Support users by explaining how to read metrics, assisting with data tracking, and communicating issues to management.

Requirements

• SQL & Database: Highly proficient in writing queries, joining data sources, and optimizing data retrieval.
• Data Integration & Transformation: Capable of extracting data from APIs, databases, or spreadsheets, as well as cleaning data and managing automatic updates.
• Data Modeling & Metric Implementation: Expert in determining data granularity, table relationships, and consistently applying business calculation definitions.
• Dashboard & Visualization: Able to design charts and data visualizations that help leaders understand information easily.
• Application Development: Capable of building frontends, backends, and APIs.
• AI-assisted Development: Able to provide clear instructions to AI, review the resulting code, and verify application behavior hands-on.
• Security & Testing: Able to implement authentication, manage secrets, test data, execute deployments, and handle incident recovery.
• Business Understanding: Understand the context of business metrics (such as Finance, Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain) and able to communicate data limitations to management.
