About Endowus

Endowus is an award-winning, independent fee-only wealth platform licensed in Singapore (MAS 101051) and Hong Kong (SFC BQR225). We serve over 300,000 clients—individuals, family offices, charities, and institutions—with over US$12 billion in assets under advice. Our mission: help people invest better so they can live easier today, and better tomorrow. Today, we work with 100+ global leading asset managers across major asset classes – public markets, private markets, hedge funds and alternatives – and make it our job to assess and access their Best-in-Class funds, and advise clients on how to invest in these funds to reach their goals. The team has deep domain knowledge in finance and technology, bringing together decades of experience from various banks and tech companies. We treasure our diversity in background and experience, and we look for people who share these beliefs in our mission.

The Opportunity

We are hiring our first Analytics Engineer to build the data models and metric definitions that power analytics across Endowus. Reporting to our Data Analytics Manager, you will develop and own our data models on dbt, the automated tests that keep them reliable, and the metric definitions feeding our semantic layer and BI tools. You will design models that enable core teams including Product, Marketing, and Operations to get to answers faster. This role offers a rare opportunity to structure complex financial domains - from client portfolios and fund transactions to multi-currency valuations across two markets. As we rapidly adopt AI tools, you will gain hands‑on experience building the governed data foundations that make self‑serve analytics and AI‑assisted workflows reliable.

What You’ll Do

• Model the data. Build and maintain dbt models end-to-end, collaborating with Data Engineering and software engineers to transform source data into clean, intuitive models for business teams.
• Make it trustworthy. Implement automated testing, freshness monitoring, and dbt documentation so model changes are traceable, tested, and reliable.
• Govern the metrics. Partner with business stakeholders and analysts to standardise core metric definitions, establishing a canonical source of truth for key business numbers.
• Enable self-serve. Support our transition to a dbt-native BI layer, designing data models and semantic definitions that make independent querying intuitive for cross‑functional teams.

Where This Role Grows

You will play a central role in shaping analytics engineering as a practice at Endowus. As our platform matures, this seat offers clear opportunities for long‑term growth: taking full ownership of our semantic layer and analytics architecture, bridging into data engineering, or driving technical direction as the team expands. We work with you directly to tailor your growth path as your scope expands.

The Must-Haves

• SQL depth. You have 1 to 3 years of hands‑on SQL experience, using CTEs, window functions and nested structures to build performant, reusable logic.
• Engineering mindset. You take a structured approach to analytics, using version control, code reviews, and testing to build maintainable models.
• Systems thinking. You view source data, transformations, semantic layers, and BI as one connected system, anticipating downstream impacts before modifying a model or definition.
• Clear technical writing. You write clear specs, documentation, and metric definitions, exercising good judgment to refine AI outputs into concise, human‑centered text.
• AI‑native curiosity. You actively use AI tools to accelerate your work, driven by a genuine curiosity about our data and business.
• Comfort with ambiguity. You thrive on loosely defined problems, taking the initiative to gather context, state your assumptions, and move forward.

The Nice‑to‑Haves

• Hands‑on experience with dbt, Git, or version‑controlled data transformation workflows.
• Experience querying cloud data platforms or engines (AWS Athena, BigQuery, Snowflake).
• Familiarity with modern BI platforms (Mode, Looker, Tableau, Power BI) and an interest in semantic layer concepts.
• Exposure to event tracking or product analytics tools (Amplitude, GA4, or equivalent).
• Exposure to or strong interest in financial services, wealth management, or investment concepts.

Why Not Endowus

• You demand perfect architecture over iterative progress. We value robust data design, but we operate in a fast‑paced business. Success means developing the pragmatism to know when a scalable, long‑term model is required, and when an iterative solution is the right call.
• You want a fully mapped‑out, mature stack to maintain. Analytics engineering is a growing discipline here. You get the opportunity to define conventions and build patterns from the ground up alongside a supportive data team.
• You expect fully standardised data and rigid specs. Source data here may not always be neatly structured upfront. You will collaborate with stakeholders to gather context and define requirements, with the autonomy to innovate on how data is modelled.

How We Hire

• Hiring Manager Conversation (45 min) — Discussion on your technical background, approach to data modelling, and stakeholder management.
• Take‑Home Case Study (2 hours, plus review) — A practical modelling scenario using synthetic data where you frame the problem, account for edge cases, and walk through assumptions with a peer panel.
• Final Conversation — Chat with our Product & Data Director focused on team fit and alignment.
