ABOUT THE PROGRAM

The AmeriCorps Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) is one of the largest volunteer networks in the nation for individuals aged 55 and older. Through RSVP, older adults contribute their time, skills, and life experience to address critical needs in their communities. Volunteers serve in a variety of roles across focus areas such as Healthy Futures, Environmental Stewardship, Education, and Other Community Priorities, supporting both short-term projects and long-term initiatives. RSVP offers flexible opportunities that align with volunteers’ interests, availability, and expertise—whether they’re mentoring youth, delivering meals, offering administrative support, or helping with disaster response. RSVP Project Coordinators play a key role in implementing local programs by recruiting, placing, training, and supporting volunteers, managing relationships with partner organizations (also called “stations”), and ensuring compliance with both federal grant guidelines and organizational policies. The goal is to foster meaningful service experiences that benefit communities while helping older adults stay active, engaged, and connected.
