AFCA (Australian Financial Complaints Authority) seeks an AI Solution Engineer in Melbourne to design, build and deploy end-to-end AI/ML solutions — developing and evaluating models, integrating them into enterprise workflows, and supporting MLOps/CI/CD — using Python, SQL and cloud platforms like Azure, Microsoft Fabric and Databricks. Initially a 12-month contract.

Job DescriptionThis is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working at the intersection of data science, machine learning and solution engineering. You'll design, build and deploy AI solutions that solve real business problems, unlock insights from complex data, and contribute to AFCA's growing AI maturity.
Reporting to the Technical Data Manager, you will play a key role in designing, developing and operationalising AI and machine learning solutions across AFCA. Working closely with data engineers, architects, business stakeholders and delivery teams, you'll transform business challenges into practical AI solutions that deliver measurable outcomes.
This role is about more than building models. You'll help bridge the gap between analytical concepts and production implementation, ensuring solutions are scalable, maintainable, secure and aligned with responsible AI principles.
This is initially a 12-month contract position.
