The Accounting & Payroll Manager is responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting operations and payroll activities for multiple entities. This is a hands-on position with significant responsibility for payroll processing, payroll accounting, payroll tax reporting, payroll reconciliations, and employee payroll-related inquiries, in addition to general ledger accounting, accounts payable and receivable, invoicing, financial reporting, and compliance while managing direct reports.
The Accounting & Payroll Manager will work closely with Human Resources and leadership to ensure payroll is processed accurately and timely, payroll taxes and related filings are completed appropriately, employee deductions and benefits are properly accounted for, and payroll information is accurately reflected in the general ledger and financial reports.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee payroll activities for multiple entities, ensuring accurate and timely processing of employee payroll.
- Review payroll information, including hours, earnings, deductions, benefits, garnishments, reimbursements, and other payroll-related transactions.
- Utilize UKG for payroll processing, payroll reporting, payroll-related accounting, and employee payroll information.
- Review and reconcile payroll registers, payroll taxes, benefit deductions, and other payroll-related accounts to the general ledger.
- Coordinate and support federal, state, and local payroll tax filings and compliance requirements.
- Research and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee payroll-related questions in a timely and confidential manner.
- Maintain accurate payroll records and supporting documentation and assist with year-end payroll processes, including W-2 reporting and reconciliations.
- Manage daily accounting activities for multiple entities, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, and reconciliations.
- Prepare and post journal entries, payroll-related entries, accruals, and other month-end adjustments.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports and assist with year-end close.
- Maintain accurate multi-entity accounting records and reconcile intercompany transactions.
- Assist with federal, state, and local tax reporting and compliance.
- Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for audits, tax filings, payroll reporting, and external accountants.
- Support accounting and payroll activities related to mergers, acquisitions, and integration of newly acquired entities.
- Utilize QuickBooks for accounting, invoicing, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Identify opportunities to improve payroll and accounting processes, controls, accuracy, and reporting.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of financial, payroll, and employee information.
- Perform other accounting, payroll, and financial duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business, or related field required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 2–3 years of accounting experience with increasing responsibility.
- Experience managing direct reports.
- Experience with multi-entity accounting and financial reporting.
- Experience with payroll, taxes, invoicing, accruals, reconciliations, and quarterly reporting.
- Experience supporting mergers and acquisitions preferred.
- Experience with UKG and QuickBooks required.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of GAAP and general accounting principles preferred.
Special Position Requirements:
- Must maintain all required professional licenses and certifications if applicable.
- Provide proof of current and in good standing licensure if applicable.
- Must maintain active driver’s license and provide proof of auto insurance upon request.
- Travel may be required.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to endure prolonged walking, sitting, standing, use of pulling bending and stooping movements.
- Ability to talk and hear.
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and mouse.
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to endure the physical demands of traveling. (i.e. air travel and auto travel).
