The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing and performing the company’s day-to-day accounting functions and ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial information.
This is a hands-on role in a small-company environment and is responsible for the full accounting cycle, including general ledger management, balance sheet reconciliations, month-end close, financial statement preparation, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, fixed assets, payroll accounting, and related accounting functions.
The Accounting Manager is expected to work independently, maintain strong accounting controls, identify and resolve discrepancies, and provide management with accurate and timely financial information.
QuickBooks Online is the company’s primary accounting system.
This is a hands-on role in a small-company environment and is responsible for the full accounting cycle, including general ledger management, balance sheet reconciliations, month-end close, financial statement preparation, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, fixed assets, payroll accounting, and related accounting functions.
The Accounting Manager is expected to work independently, maintain strong accounting controls, identify and resolve discrepancies, and provide management with accurate and timely financial information.
QuickBooks Online is the company’s primary accounting system.
General Accounting and Month-End Close
• Perform and oversee the monthly accounting close process.
• Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, prepaid expense adjustments, depreciation, and other month-end entries.
• Reconcile all balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis.
• Maintain supporting schedules for significant balance sheet accounts.
Financial Reporting
• Prepare accurate and timely monthly financial statements.
• Assist management with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
• Compare actual financial performance to budget, prior periods, and other relevant benchmarks.
Accounts Payable
• Manage the accounts payable process from invoice receipt through payment.
• Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
• Monitor upcoming payment requirements and coordinate payment timing with available cash.
• Maintain vendor W-9 documentation and other required records.
• Assist with preparation of annual 1099 reporting, as applicable.
Accounts Receivable
• Manage the complete accounts receivable process.
• Follow up on outstanding receivables and coordinate collection efforts as necessary.
• Reconcile accounts receivable records to the general ledger.
• Monitor customer credits, unapplied cash, and other outstanding items.
Cash Management and Reconciliations
• Monitor company cash balances and anticipated cash requirements.
• Perform timely bank account reconciliations.
• Reconcile company credit card accounts and other cash-related accounts.
• Maintain appropriate controls over cash receipts, disbursements, and banking activity.
Fixed Assets
• Maintain an accurate fixed asset listing.
• Record fixed asset purchases, disposals, transfers, and other changes.
• Maintain depreciation schedules and record periodic depreciation expense.
• Maintain supporting documentation for significant capital expenditures.
Payroll and Employee-Related Accounting
• Record payroll-related journal entries as necessary.
• Review and account for employee expense reimbursements.
• Manage accounting for company credit card activity and ensure expenses are properly documented and coded.
Tax and Regulatory Accounting
• Assist with sales tax, use tax, and other recurring accounting-related filings as applicable.
• Maintain supporting records for tax-related accounts.
• Ensure appropriate documentation is maintained for taxable and non-taxable transactions.

- Several years of progressively responsible accounting experience.
- Experience with full-cycle accounting in a small or mid-sized business environment.
- Demonstrated experience independently completing month-end close.
- Solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and standard accounting practices.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and meet recurring deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of the accounting function.
- Ability to understand the relationship between financial transactions and the company’s financial statements.
- Ability to handle confidential financial information appropriately.
- Comfortable working in a hands-on, small-company environment where responsibilities may extend beyond narrowly defined accounting duties.
