Accountant I Transactional MYS

Basic Job Functions:

• Perform the Company’s regular accounting and compliance work.

Education/Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 0-2 years of accounting experience.
• Familiarity with general accounting principles and practices.

• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Oracle/ SAP) and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Ensure accuracy in the processing of invoices and related financial transactions.
• Daily review and resolution of invoice discrepancies and issues related to accounts payable.
• Correspond with vendors and internal business partners, responding promptly to inquiries related to payments and outstanding invoices.
• Review and follow up on Accounts Payable (AP) ageing report weekly.
• Manage the accounts payable workflow, ensuring timely approval and payment of invoices.
• Prepare and process electronic transfers, payments and check runs accurately and on schedule.
• Perform regular reconciliations of vendor statements and resolve any discrepancies.
• Assist in the month-end closing process by preparing necessary journal entries and ensuring all accounts payable activities are properly recorded.
• Ensure compliance with Corporate Accounting policies and Sarbanes-Oxley controls
• Ensure compliance with Quality, Environment, Health and Safety, and Responsible Business Alliance policies and procedures that is enforced within the organization.
• Support ad-hoc request related to accounts payable
• Maintain organized and accurate accounts payable records and documentation for audit purposes.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements within the accounts payable function and collaborate with the team to implement changes.
• Undertake other tasks as assigned by the supervisor or manager.

Physical Requirements (if any):

• Will sit, stand or walk short distances for up to the entire duration of a shift.
• Will climb stairs on an occasional basis.
• Will lift, push or pull up to 27 pounds on an occasional basis.
• Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis.
• 20/40 vision in each eye, with or without correction, is required.
• Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures.
• May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis.
• May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis.
• Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to, steel toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, protective jacket or apron and arm guards)
• All associates working on the production floor may be required to wear a respirator at any given time and thus, the ability to wear a respirator is a condition of employment and continued employment (requires little or no facial hair)
