Account Executive, Utilities

About VertiGIS

VertiGIS builds powerful GIS software that helps organizations design, manage, and operate complex networks and infrastructure. Our products enhance leading mapping platforms, most notably Esri's ArcGIS, and are used globally by telecommunications operators, utilities, and public sector organizations.

Within VertiGIS, our Utilities Business Unit focuses on enabling electric, gas, and water utilities to plan, document, and operate their networks more efficiently.

We offer challenging and meaningful careers in a collaborative, international environment. Our teams are made up of driven, curious, and supportive people who enjoy learning, growing, and doing impactful work together.

The Role

We are looking for a new business-focused Account Executive with excellent customer-facing skills, strong technical aptitude, and a track record of selling enterprise software solutions to large USA utilities and/or large System Integrators (SIs). This is a great opportunity for someone who thrives in a competitive, dynamic environment with an overwhelming drive to hunt new logos and close new business.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify and pursue new business opportunities for our Utilities Software solutions, with a primary focus on net-new logo acquisition, while also advancing the use of our technologies in existing accounts and partner relationships.

• Develop and implement a sales strategy to capitalize on this market opportunity, targeting large USA utilities and System Integrators.

• Contact prospects to present our value proposition and qualify interest.

• Develop proposals and presentations to meet expressed and perceived customer needs, liaising with technical resources as necessary.

• Build and maintain professional relationships within customer organizations.

• Close software sales and services working with the team to ensure on-time fulfillment, overall product satisfaction, and question/problem resolution.

• Record all customer/prospect communications in NetSuite.

• Provide monthly, quarterly, and annual sales booking forecasts and support the budgeting and annual planning process.

• Actively participate and support services projects with your customers, ensuring a smooth transition from presales to post-sales execution and being present for key meetings throughout the project delivery process.

• Collaborate with our Marketing team to develop programs and initiatives.

• Provide feedback to our Products team regarding general customer requirements for future product releases.

• Any other duties as assigned from time to time.

• 5 to 10 years of experience selling software solutions to large USA utilities and/or large System Integrators (SIs) is required.

• Demonstrated success in new business development/net-new sales, not just account growth.

• Ability to position and sell SaaS enterprise solutions.

• Demonstrated ability to develop new market opportunities and maximize opportunities with existing accounts.

• Top-notch written and verbal communication skills, including listening and public speaking.

• A passion for sales and technology.

• An insatiable drive to achieve targets while creating long-term customer success.

• Competence using automated sales tools such as CRM applications (NetSuite experience is ideal).

• Must be located in the contiguous U.S. with convenient access to a commercial airport to support up to 50% travel.

• This position requires travel (up to 50%) primarily in the US.

• Experience selling utility-sector solutions (GIS, asset management, or related enterprise software) would be considered a strong asset.

How to Apply

Please apply with a cover letter and a resume.

A cover letter complements your resume. It allows you to elaborate on your background and experience. It provides you with an opportunity to address how you meet the requirements for the role. It demonstrates your interest. These are important topics that aren’t always covered in a resume alone. Your resume is factual, your cover letter is personal.

We’ve had the most success with applicants that include a cover letter.

Only applicants that include a cover letter will be considered. We look forward to receiving your application!
