2nd Line IT Support Engineer

Senior 2nd Line IT Support Analyst | South Cave | £40,000

Are you an experienced 2nd Line Support Engineer who feels ready to take the next step towards infrastructure? Do you enjoy solving more complex technical issues, supporting junior engineers and helping set the standard for what good looks like?

TechXperts Recruitment UK are working with a well-established business looking to appoint a Senior 2nd Line Support Engineer to join their growing service desk.

You'll work closely with the Service Desk Team Lead, taking ownership of 2nd line tickets, supporting more junior engineers and playing a key part in developing the service desk. It's a fairly fresh team, so there's plenty of opportunity to have an influence rather than simply coming in and following processes.

The big opportunity with this role is progression. They're looking for someone who wants to develop into a more infrastructure-focused position over the next 12-18 months, with the opportunity to gain more exposure to the wider infrastructure environment as you develop.

Key Technology & Experience

• Windows 10/11 & Microsoft 365
• Networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS & DHCP
• Infrastructure & connectivity troubleshooting
• ITIL processes and best practices
• Switch administration & network troubleshooting
• Exposure to Cisco, Fortinet, Meraki, Hyper-V or Rubrik would be beneficial

What they're looking for

• Solid 2nd Line IT Support / Service Desk experience
• Demonstrable experience working within ITIL processes
• Someone comfortable taking ownership of more complex technical issues
• A strong communicator who can support users and junior engineers
• A genuine desire to progress into infrastructure

What's in it for you?

• Salary up to £40,000
• Clear progression into infrastructure over the next 12-18 months
• Structured training & development
• Pension scheme with enhanced contribution options

This role would suit someone who's strong at 2nd line but doesn't want to still be doing the same thing in two years time. You'll have the opportunity to establish yourself as a senior member of the service desk before gradually taking that next step into infrastructure.

If that sounds like the progression you've been looking for, we'd love to have a conversation.
