The Role
We’re recruiting for a Strategic Support Manager here at Justice Digital, Data and Science (JDDS) to be part of our warm and collaborative Strategic Priorities Unit team.
The Strategic Priorities Unit works across JDDS to help senior leaders set direction, translate priorities into action, and maintain a coherent view of the organisation's most important strategic activity. The team works closely with the JDDS Senior Leadership Team, directorates across JDDS, teams across the Ministry of Justice, and senior private offices.
This is a varied role at the heart of the team. You will help ensure that the Strategic Priorities Unit operates effectively, that strategic commissions and information requests are handled to a high standard, and that the information, processes, and coordination needed to support strategic decision-making are in place.
The Strategic Support Managers provide the operational, information, and commissions backbone of the Strategic Priorities Unit, helping the team and senior leaders turn strategic priorities into well-coordinated activity.
You will work across a wide range of subjects, often at pace, and will need to be comfortable managing competing priorities and working with colleagues at all levels. Alongside core commissions and operational responsibilities, there will be opportunities to take ownership of projects, contribute to strategic work, improve the way the team operates, and develop a broad understanding of JDDS and the Ministry of Justice.
You’ll receive a range of excellent benefits when you join our department, including:
- A generous employer pension contribution of 28.97% through the Civil Service Pension Scheme.
- 25 days of annual leave, (increasing to 30 days once you have reached 5 years of service), plus 8 bank holidays and a privilege day for the King’s birthday.
- Flexible working arrangements including hybrid working, working part time or compressed hours. Designed to support a positive work–life balance.
- Employees are allocated 10% of their working time for personal and professional development.
- A £1k per person learning budget is in place to support all our people, with access to best-in-class conferences and seminars, accreditation with professional bodies, fully funded vocational programmes and e-learning platforms.
- Compassionate maternity, adoption, and shared parental leave policies, with up to 26 weeks leave at full pay, 13 weeks with partial pay, and 13 weeks further leave. And maternity support/paternity leave at full pay for 2 weeks, too!
